Polls suggest Paul Ryan insulated from Donald Trump angst

Donald Trump’s refusal to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan is a head-turning election story, a new milestone in a bad political marriage and a sign of extreme, ongoing Republican turmoil.

But there’s little evidence in the polling so far that it will seriously hurt Ryan back home in Wisconsin, where the Janesville congressman faces a GOP primary next week against first-time candidate and Trump supporter Paul Nehlen.

Surveys this summer show Ryan is much more popular than Trump in Wisconsin. That is true in Ryan’s congressional district and statewide. And it is true for voters both inside and outside the Republican Party.

The polls show no sign of a pro-Trump backlash against Ryan, who endorsed Trump but has repeatedly distanced himself from Trump’s rhetoric and ideas. In an early July survey, Ryan was just as popular in Wisconsin among Republicans who support Trump as he was among those who don’t.

Yes....but turnout is everything.... The Urinal Sentinel is estimating about 15-20% turnout....Nehlen's base is fired up. Ryan's not so much.

Paul RYAN, brought to DC and mentored into DC politics by a VERY influential IMMIGRATION LAWYER named CESAR CONDA, who happens to be Rubio’s chief of staff.

This election is ALL about Immigration, as proven by the other immigration lawyer in the news today...Khizr Khan. No way is Ryan going to oppose Khan to stand up for Trump.

This is ALL about immigration, Muslim and otherwise because it is BIG MONEY!!!

My hunch from living in this state is Ryan survives. Probably fairly easily.

Fingers crossed for a surprise though. If anything could get the GOPe’s attention, it would be him going down.

As I recall, Eric Cantor thought he had a comfortable lead in his last primary, as all the polling seemed to indicate.

Immigration also wipes out the Republican party.

A million more Muslims here. 10-20 million illegals voting Dem. Game over, man.

Let’s say Ryan survives the primary. Will he be damaged so that he does not prevail in November against the Democrat?

He’ll face Boehner’s fate or worse soon enough.

What’s funny is TPPaul Ryan is planning on running for POTUS. Hilarious. He couldn’t be more out of touch with Main Street USA. Potomac fever is a heck of a drug. LOL.

Demographics are not on our side. Our chances of winning are dwindling year after year yet the right side of the aisle can’t help but cannibalize itself. The left can unify behind ANYONE. Hillary is the worst candidate ever put forth and yet they are unified behind her. As flawed as Donald is if we were unified there’s no way he would lose.

Probably not. If he survives this primary challenge, he’s safe.

Unless Trump’s campaign completely implodes. Then all bets are off everywhere.

“Immigration also wipes out the Republican party.”

It wipes out America. Between anarchy and Shiria Law, there won’t be any America left.
