"The 101st has not been capable of rapid response for decades."

Well, that's not very good news, is it?

Erdogan is actually replacing the entire military with an Islamic Police Force. They just claimed over 90% of military is loyal to Gulen. They will probably call the new military some type of Islamic Guard Force. What gets activated here in the states, is probably for replacing the forward deployed forces that enter a theater.

There is probably more than 50. Some say 90.

They are not a rapid response force, they are a follow on force. Tactically they are a very flexible and rapidly moving force due to thier helicopters. Strategically, it just takes a while to move all that stuff. Apaches amd Blachhawks are great birds, you just don’t want go and fly then across oceans

The Marines, who are forward deployed can get small forces with a little bit of everything anywhere quickly. The 82nd Airborne can get a lot of lightly equipped soldiers anywhere very quickly.

There is always a trade off between speed and combat power. Do you want it fast, heavy,or a massed force? Pick two of the three.

The article is very poorly constructed; it is really two different articles. The first article concerns an alert status and the second concerns Incirlik.

Ignore the Incirlik article.

Here's the key phrase: "We were told at a safety briefing that it could be for anything, such as an attack on Clarksville and Nashville." The concern is local, very local.

This is only guess, but I’m wondering if they have a protocol for non-combat transfers that says only one warhead can be moved at a time. They may not want multiple warheads on one transport?? In which case they might only move 2-3 per day when transporting away from Turkey??? Just a guess.....
