Editor’s Note: Erick Erickson gushed over Bill Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night, which was universally panned.
The party of family values has just nominated a man on his third wife with numerous affairs and they are pitting him against a woman whose husband routinely cheated on her, but they kept their marriage together. Republicans are prone to cast aspersions on the Clinton marriage. “They did it for power” or “she stuck to him for her own benefit” are the most common ones.
But in a day and age where marriages crumble and kids wind up spread all over between parents and step parents, the Clintons kept their marriage together. Judge not. They swore a holy vow and, though Bill broke the fidelity part, they have kept the bonds of marriage between them that Trump has so easily cast off.
That was a good speech. Bill Clinton is still the guy you want to have a beer with. He paraded through a tour of states on what Hillary had done for the little guy. He talked about their marriage. He completely skipped 1998. But he came to rehabilitate Hillary’s image in the eyes of the American people and I suspect the old charmer charmed a good number of people.

Hillary certainly didn’t.
Erickson has proven what a worm he is. Democrat in disguise, basically. That’s what more than a couple Cruzers were about - Hillary at any cost.
A GOP Establishment goal - whatever form it takes.
The livelihoods of these types of people derives solely from the fake Democrat-GOP Establishment “war” that they’ve been selling.
Trump would break all that up and they’re scared. So they’re trying to put Hillary in power any which way they can (with apologies to Clint Eastwood).
They care not that it destroys what little is left with America; especially with a left-wing SC.

I haven’t gone to RedState in years, and won’t in the future.
I realized at some point during the 2008 election that most of the posters there were either fake, GOPe plants, or funded by some other organization with social goals that are inimical to my own.
It never occurred to EE that ‘keeping their marriage together,’ might have been practically and pragmatically a better political decision for the Clintons?
There is also the advantage of spouses not being compelled to testify against each other. Not that anyone to date has exhibited the slightest interest in investigating the trail of convenient deaths that follows the Clintons like gulls trailing a shrimp boat.
But you never know; lightning could strike, and spousal immunity could be a good thing.

I’m sure Ms. Lewinski’s parents are proud of Bill.
And the fact their daughter looks suspiciously like an old friend of theirs.
Trump may have two ex-wives, but he has good relationships with his children by them and the two exes have not been knocking him in the press to scuttle his presidential aspirations as many ex-wives might do. Compare that to the army of women who have real grievances against Bill and Hillary and have been speaking about how they were treated/victimized for many years.
I guess Erick doesn’t care that good ol’ Bubba has a long track record of sexual assault, sexual exploitation and rape of women. The only reason Bill and Hill never divorced is because it didn’t suit their power and money-grubbing goals. It has nothing to do with them not wanting to break up the family or making their phony baloney marriage “work.”
