The policies that the Democrat ACLU has put in place has made it very difficult for mental health professionals to deal with dangerously mentally ill people. Because of a decision that an ACLU judge made about 30 years ago, mental health professionals can only hospitalize the mentally ill for about 3 days, then they must be released. After the patient walks out that door, it is not known if they will ever return. Before the ACLU court decision society had some sensible ways to keep mentally ill people from doing harm to themselves or others but after the ACLU decision they were on the streets. Much of the homeless problem happened in the eighties after this court decision was passed. The mentally ill man who shot Gabby Giffords should have been in a mental hospital where he would be watched after every day. He should not have been in the care of his parents who were not capable of handling someone as their son. This is also true of the Aurora killer who his own mother could not control.
