Trump Must Pledge to Implement GOP Platform
(Published by) Townhall.com ^ | July 24, 2016 | (Op-ed written by) Matt Barber

Even as the GOP establishment drifts ever leftward, mutating into a “progressive” monstrosity nearly indistinguishable from its DNC Capital Club drinking buddies, a group of conservative delegates has crafted what’s being called “the most conservative Republican Platform in history.”

By the grace of God, this platform was adopted in toto this past week at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Now, to unify the Republican Party and admit into triage an America on the precipice of total collapse (and to put us on the road to recovery), nominee Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress should immediately pledge to implement every plank of the platform over the next four-to-eight years, reversing that which may already be irreversible – the “fundamental transformation” of America (read: the intentional and treasonous sabotage of this once great nation) at the hands of Barack Obama, America’s executive enemy within.

If Mr. Trump will make a very public guarantee that, if elected, he will work tirelessly to implement the 2016 GOP platform, such pledge, followed by subsequent overt acts, would go a long way toward winning over his many remaining conservative naysayers. Who knows? Even National Review might hold its nose and hop the Trump Train.

America can’t afford this platform to be ignored as simply a wish list of soaring platitudes intended to placate the conservative base of the GOP. It must be adopted and implemented as the blueprint for America’s future.

While in no way comprehensive, here are key platform planks. Headings are my own:

San Francisco-style social engineering vs. national defense

“We believe that our nation is most secure when the president and the administration prioritize readiness, recruitment, and retention, rather than using the military to advance a social or political agenda. Military readiness must not be sacrificed on the altar of politically correct social agendas, which this administration has done.”

Obama’s repeal of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and his housing of men in miniskirts (transgender) in the ladies barracks has done more to destroy troop morale and unit cohesion than any other weakening of our U.S. military. Homosexual rapes are now at an all-time high as a result.

Obama has also launched a wholesale attack on Christianity in the ranks of the armed services. This must be stopped.

Right to freedom of health care conscience

“We likewise support the right of parents to consent to medical treatment for their children, including mental health treatment, drug treatment, and treatment involving pregnancy, contraceptives and abortion. We urge enactment of pending legislation that would require parental consent to transport girls across state lines for abortions.”

This would also secure the right of children who have been sexually abused to seek necessary therapy from a licensed therapist to address the root cause of unwanted same-sex attractions that often result.

Authentic marriage

“The American family is the foundation of civil society and the cornerstone is marriage, the union of one man and one woman. … we do not accept the Supreme Court’s redefinition of marriage and we urge its reversal, whether through judicial reconsideration or a constitutional amendment returning control over marriage to the States.”

Christians are under attack due to this absurd SCOTUS opinion. It has pitted government against the free exercise of religion and will result in millions of motherless and fatherless children. Until this plank is implemented, civil disobedience is the only option.

Socialized medicine

“Any honest agenda for improving health care must start with repeal of the dishonestly named Affordable Care Act of 2010: Obamacare. It weighs like the dead hand of the past upon American medicine.”

Obamacare was designed to fail and usher in socialized medicine. It’s a disaster and must be repealed and replaced posthaste.

Right to not be murdered

“The Constitution’s guarantee that no one can ‘be deprived of life, liberty or property’ deliberately echoes the Declaration of Independence’s proclamation that ‘all’ are ‘endowed by their Creator’ with the inalienable right to life. Accordingly, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to children before birth. We oppose the use of public funds to perform or promote abortion or to fund organizations, like Planned Parenthood.”

Gender pretenders and Title IX

“We emphatically support the original, authentic meaning of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. It affirmed that ‘no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.’ That language opened up for girls and women a world of opportunities that had too often been denied to them. That same provision of law is now being used by bureaucrats – and by the current president of the United States – to impose a social and cultural revolution upon the American people by wrongly redefining sex discrimination to include sexual orientation, or other categories. The agenda has nothing to do with individual rights; it has everything to do with power. They are determined to reshape our schools – or entire society – to fit the mold of an ideology alien to America’s history and traditions. Their edict to the States concerning restrooms, locker rooms and other facilities is at once illegal, dangerous, and ignores privacy issues. We salute the several States which have filed suit against it.”

Judicial tyranny

“The rule of law is the foundation of our Republic. A critical threat to our country’s constitutional order is an activist judiciary that usurps powers properly reserved to the people through other branches of government. … We believe in the constitutional checks and balances and that the Founders intended the judiciary to be the weakest branch. We encourage Congress to use the check of impeachment (emphasis mine) for judges who unconstitutionally usurp Article I powers. In tandem with a Republican Senate, a new Republican president will restore to the Court a strong conservative majority that will follow the text and original meaning of the Constitution and our laws. … Judicial activism that includes reliance on foreign law or unratified treaties undermines American sovereignty. …”

I’m proud to say that this plank was drafted by my sister-in-law, RNC committeewoman and delegate Cynthia Dunbar. Judicial activism has led to judicial tyranny. A “living, breathing” constitution is no constitution at all. It’s time to impeach all “progressive” judges and justices who abuse the sacred authority given them to legislate from the bench and impose a radical ideology on the American people that resembles nothing our Founding Fathers could have imagined.

As someone who remains a vocal critic of Donald Trump, yet recently moved from “Never Trump” to “Maybe Trump,” I can say with certainty that a promise to implement the 2016 Republican Party platform in its entirety will win over many conservatives. Hillary Clinton simply must not take the Oval Office. God willing, and with a GOP Congress in toe, Mr. Trump might then become the leader many hope he will by governing with the GOP platform as his executive guidepost.

No way unless he wants to lose the election. The platform is RNC insider posturing, not meaningful. Now, if the party had been smart and asked Trump to write the platform, then fine, demand he follow it. But they didn’t and I don’t think any candidate has ever followed it. Not once.

Trump doesn’t have to do anything except hit his four major points.....the wall, radical Islamic terrorism, trade forametican interests, bring jobs home

Those are in the platform.

I am sick of crushers telling the rest of us what trump has to do. Your guy lost. He didn’t call for party unity. He in fact threw out there the vote your conscience meme of the never trumpets

Look , IF Trump doesn’t win SCOTUS is toast, illegals will get citizenship, and ISIS will be alive and well in our homeland. Your choice

What do they really mean by "implement"? When was the last time any elected president "implemented" their party's platform? (When was the last time anyone could find a copy of the party platform on the morning after the party's convention?)

Enough with the Republicans for Clinton BS.

“Enough with the Republicans for Clinton BS.”

What ever you do, do not turn on Chris Wallace’s Fox News Sunday.

Brit Hume was giving Hillary a foot massage and George Will was telling America nobody wants anger in their living rooms.

Of course George did not mention the SCOTUS problem or that Hillary intends to Liquidate America.

Trump has been very clear on what his agenda will be (border, trade, jobs, and the vets) this author and all how agree with this article can stuff it.

These cucks are so up themselves you have to check twice to see if you're reading an Onion parody. Deep gratitude to President Trump for ridding the body politic of these tapeworms.

I consider myself to be a good Conservative. And I like the platform pretty well.

But recovering from Obama should not be about purity and ideology. We need to implement practical steps that bring this country back. I VERY MUCH like Trump’s spoken policies and I think what he proposes is implementable.

But if we tie it to an overly ideological platform, the road in front of us will be steep indeed.

Posturing and not going to appeal to the squishy middle of American politics.

They need to stop doing platforms. It’s just an opportunity for negative press.

The platform is good, but tying one of Trump’s hands behind his back by making him take another pledge is just another Never-Trumper trick to funnel votes to Hillary. I wouldn’t be too surprised if the next release of hacked DNC or Hillary emails doesn’t show some type of collusion between the Never-Trumpers and the DNC.

I completely agree. I was relieved the platform is still more conservative than the nominee. It’s a set of beliefes and principles a group of people believe in.

The nominee for any office has always been allowed some freedom in being him/herself.

Same old play book. Meet a conservative litmus test, say all the right words, be seen with the right people, then do your deals behind closed doors.

Trump is not playing your loosing game.
