Open Carry at the RNC: Exactly as Expected. No Problems

Open Carry Cleveland RNC Rifle Sans Mag

Open carry in Cleveland Ohio at the Republican National Convention has been hyped by those that want to disarm the population.  A scam petition was created to open carry inside the convention floor.  It was run by a “progressive” to create problems for Second Amendment supporters.  It did not last for long or fool many. The Quicken Loans location is a private concern.

Then the head of the Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association published a hysterical rant about how the Constitution need not apply.  He wanted the citizenry disarmed. From cnn.com:

“We are sending a letter to Gov. Kasich requesting assistance from him. He could very easily do some kind of executive order or something — I don’t care if it’s constitutional or not at this point,” Stephen Loomis, president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, told CNN. “They can fight about it after the RNC or they can lift it after the RNC, but I want him to absolutely outlaw open-carry in Cuyahoga County until this RNC is over.”

Governor Kasich showed much more class and understanding of limited government, the separation of powers and Constitutionally protected rights.  He said no, he did not have the power to do so.

Senator Sherrod Brown (D) Ohio, thought the Governor could do something!  At least when he was talking to the Police Union. From cleveland.com:

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Sen. Sherrod Brown has joined the call for Gov. John Kasich to suspend Ohio’s open carry law during the Republican National Convention this week.

“I would hope that the governor would listen to the police union and suspend conceal and open carry in Ohio, in Cleveland, during this convention,” Brown said in an appearance in Cincinnati,

Open carry at the RNC did exactly what was intended. It acted as strong, protected, political speech. It showed that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights mean something, and are not platitudes to be swept away at the whim of proto fascists like Senator Sherrod Brown and Police Union Presicent Stephen Loomis.

If you do not exercise your rights, you lose them.

Anyone who is “uncomfortable” with open carry should probably get their head straight.

The “sheep” will be totally disarmed at the DNC. Let’s get some popcorn and cokes and watch what happens there.

“...I don’t care if it’s constitutional or not at this point,” Stephen Loomis, president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association, told CNN...”

This Stephen Loomis is an assclown, and if he is a Cop, needs to lose his badge, his gun, and his taxpayer-funded pension immediately.

Oh, it’ll be chaos. Bedlam.
And, it’ll all be blamed on Trump.

“...Anyone who is “uncomfortable” with open carry should probably get their head straight...”

This is our Right - period. If someone is “uncomfortable” with that, too bad. The most basic Constitutional, Civil, and HUMAN Right.

Unless it is someone who genuinely does not understand it, and can be brought into the fold, so to speak, the only answer continuing forward is an unapologetic and forthright “GFYourself”.

There is no sense in being polite to agenda-driven idiots who want you disarmed and helpless.

To me, one of the big stories at the convention was the one that didn’t happen: virtually no violence was reported. I was sure that there would be huge problems, maybe even fights on the convention floor. I’m thinking now that demonstration organizers saw that violence was backfiring and giving sympathy to Trump, so they were told to stand down.

Should slingshots be allowed at the Democrat convention?

I am curious if there are/were any interviews with law enforcement personnel who were working the RNC. Wondering if they gave opinions about those citizens lawfully open carrying.
Usually, LEOs remarks at such events reveal the politeness and courtesy of said armed citizens.

I sure wouldn’t open carry in a hostile environment. Now then, my Nikon fanny pack ...

The RNC was mostly attended by conservatives, so of course there aren’t going to be any shootings. Any of the liberal twits who think to try something would immediately be cut down by the citizens and the police.

Liberals should not be allowed to be have guns, but there is no justification for prohibiting conservatives from open carrying on public property.

Near the end of the article at Ammoland, the Cleveland Police Chief says that Open Carry was not an issue. There was also something about “they did as the police asked” or some such.

Yup. The Constitution is the epitome of law, and this jerk, a cop, wants to violate it? He should be fired.

“The “sheep” will be totally disarmed at the DNC. Let’s get some popcorn and cokes and watch what happens there.”

What we want to happen there is chaos. We want them to scream that we should be disarmed. Then we make a full scale 50 million dollar ad campaign to show that the only ones who need to be disarmed are the mentally challenged and start with the DNC.

Slingshots?

I think that would be micro-aggression. Or maybe it would make non-Christians uncomfortable because of the biblical reference.

Can you imagine openly worn crosses there? Seems unlikely.

“Anyone who is “uncomfortable” with open carry should probably get their head straight.”

Looks like LOTS OF PEOPLE were ‘uncomfortable’ with Open Carry...which is why there were barely any ‘protesters’.

Things will be different in the City of Brotherly Love (LOL), though.
