The U.S. State Department said Thursday that it is looking into reports another American has been detained in Iran.

State Department spokesman John Kirby would not comment further on the detention of Robin Shahini.

The girlfriend of the San Diego man said Shahini's sister told her Iranian authorities took him into custody July 11 while he was visiting family in his native Iran and he has not been heard from since.

I can remember when President Reagan on his first day in office forced the Iranians to free American hostages.

Those days are gone I guess.

Actually according to a documentary, the Iranians held on to the hostages and the announcement of their impending release just long enough to bring down the Carter presidency. It wasn’t until Reagan was officially sworn in and then basically the Iranians announced that the hostages would be brought back to the US.

Obama will issue a heartfelt statement of concern from a golf course somewhere.

The Carter Administration asked to continue trying to negotiate the release of the hostages after Carter had lost the elections. The Iranians drag it out, trying to get the best deal they could from the weaklings and incompetents in the Carter administration.

The Iranians did not want to go up against Reagan.

At the end the Iranians accepted Carters offer of money and other concessions to release the hostages.

Many thought Reagan should simply refuse to honor the deal after the hostages were released, saying it was extortion and ransom and therefore an illegal deal.

“Why do these people go there?”

Because they’ve been there many times in the past to visit family there and nothing has happened. Each time they go they get more & more confident that nothing will happen.
It’s a crap shoot.

Obama will just hand over another $150 billion to shut them up ‘til the election is over.

I have no sympathy for any American that actually goes there.
Remember that baloney about the three “hikers “ on “vacation” just across the Iranian border from Iraq. Yeah right! “Where do you guys want to go camping ? the Alps? Yosemite? No!! lets go to the Iranian border and hike in”?? Then all of a sudden we pay millions of tax payer money and they are released? Reminds me of that wayward “hiker” inside of Korea. He was crying as they sentenced him to 30- year “at hard labor”. Here is my advice. Stay the hell out of enemy countries, unless the CIA is paying you a ton of money-— oopps.

If the U.S. survives the next 6 months of Obastard's scorched earth.

Is he a former Iranian who became an American citizen, or is he an Anglo. An Anglo going to Iran is about the same as going to North Korea.
