At the same time, Mr. Trump is touting himself as the “law and order candidate,” and the GOP is making its own case to voters that the businessman is the country’s best shot at getting a seemingly endless stream of violence under control.

“Hillary Clinton’s platitudes on gun control and public safety will not ensure an America in which both civilians and law enforcement can feel safe in their own neighborhoods,” said Telly Lovelace, the Republican National Committee’s national director of African-American initiatives and media. “Donald Trump wants to restore law and order to our communities and make America safe again.”

Mr. Trump declined an invitation to speak to the NAACP and instead was in Cleveland on Monday to help kick off the Republican convention.

With the spotlight to herself at the NAACP convention, Mrs. Clinton said white Americans must work to better understand the challenges black Americans face every day, and that citizens of every race must respect the work of law enforcement.

“We white Americans need to do a better job of listening when African-Americans talk about the seen and unseen barriers you face every day,” the former secretary of state said.

She needs to keep saying this and say it more publicly than just to relatively small groups like the NAACP. I think those jobless coal miners in WVirginia, Pennsylvania, etc need to hear it from her, loud and clear, that their “white privilege” is the problem. They especially need to hear it in conjunction with hearing about Chelsea Clinton’s lifetime limo ride provided by her (oops) privileged family. They need to hear a woman who has made millions from “public service” tell them about their “white privilege”. That’ll surely influence quite a few votes.

Let’s flip this around. Black students take black studies classes. When whites try to take black studies classes they are castigated by black students, then the same students wonder why whites don’t understand them.

Apparently US history for a black ends at Selma and doesn’t include people like Condi Rice, Hermann Cain or Colin Powell. But it does include Al Sharpton,Jessie Jackson and Maleek Shabazz.

There was a great episode of "Fresh Prince of Bel Aire." Long story short, two rich black kids in a rich prep school. Mother complained there was no Black History. The school agreed and asked her to teach a class (she was a lawyer.)

The two kids figured they didn't need to take that class seriously because they were black and so should automatically pass. They didn't study or pay attention. The white kids loved it, singing spirituals and turning in extra reports.

Of course, the classes you are talking about are not Black History but Radical Propaganda, still it reminded me of that episode.

Or about how their own pathologies contribute greatly to current issues? or that race relations is not a one way street? or that race only groups like the NAACP for example shouldn't exist in a 'colorblind' society?
