Idiots don’t understand technology. The decision was made by a person. Using a robot was no different than using a rifle. Both are just tools.
The real issue is about letting a drone make the decision. That is not what happened here.
Huh?!
What do these people use for brains? He was given numerous chances to surrender. After 5 dead, no police officer should be required to unnecessarily risk so much as a scratched finger.
He had more “due process” than was actually warranted. Snipers from the SWAT team should have been sent in, and covered his spot with lead.
I guess Claire’s history lessons didn’t include the MOVE precedent. Wilson Goode, the first black mayor of Philadelphia, set a whole neighborhood on fire to take out the Africa family.
blm wants to know the color of the robot....
criminal lives don’t matter...
I wonder if Claire Bernish has seen the images of the deceased shooter. He wasnt blown up. There was an explosion close enough to him to kill him, but he was in one piece, as far as I could tell. Lots of damage to his surroundings, which is probably what killed him, but he wasnt blown up.
As far as I’m concerned BLM are terrorists and terrorist deserve what they get.
To all you apples and oranges people.
If the guy was in his jail cell, awaiting trial and they sent in a robot and blew him up, you would have to agree that would be murder, correct?
Would he have deserved it? Sure. Did he have it coming? Yep. Would we cry any tears? No. BUT it isn’t LEGAL. The scumbag has rights. We have laws. They have to be applied evenly for EVERYONE!
Circumstances matter. Once the police had him contained, there was no need to just execute him. In fact it could be considered murder.
Had he charged them, had he tried to escape, lethal force would be justified, but he didn’t. It was over.
If a sniper had him in their sites and he was just sitting there, contained by authorities, would the sniper be justified in executing him? (Lon Horiuchi ?) I think not. He didn’t have hostages, the threat was contained.
Circumstances had changed. The situation had changed. The attack was over. The police should have waited as long as it took for the situation to resolve itself.
REVENGE is not LEGAL.
Thank the Lord they didn’t call together a committee to decide on the use of the robot!
They should have bacon ready in case it’s needed.
Agreed. If he had chosen to surrender to the cops, like they asked him too, instead of choosing to go out in a blaze of "glory", he would have been taken before a judge, charged, and prosecuted.
The judge, after all wasn't at the shootings. He has to listen to the lawyers and the testimony and determine what happened. And once this mug made it into the court system, he would be considered to be innocent until proven guilty.
But first he has to surrender, because if he chooses to continue the firefight, he will lose. As long as he's an an active shooter, he is a threat to the public and to the officers trying to arrest him.
He decided to turn this into a "shoot to kill" situation, not the cops. The cops decided they'd rather send a robot than waste any more LEO lives. At that point, his life was pretty much forfeit.
And if it took the cops 20 minutes to make the decision, I bet 19 of those minutes were taken up by the cops arguing over who was going to get to and drive the drone, and another minute of "rock, paper, scisssors" to decide.
I’m quite pleased they killed him. The means matter not a whit. A bullet, buckshot, or a small explosive charge, or a missile backed by an explosion (that’s all a bullet is, right?) is fine. If they could kill (they could legally do so, without question) using unconventon means is fine unless designed to punish by cruel and unusual means rather than kill. Completely constitutional.
No white police chief would ever get away with what happened to the Dallas suspect.
Big deal.
Over a hundred years ago, the Pinkertons threw a bomb into Jesse James’s house and blew up his mom. He wasn’t home at the time and you might say it kind of ticked him off just a scouch. And they weren’t even LEO’s.
My only serious questions: Was the robot badly damaged?
Did the have a printout of the old FR Standard “Well, Bye” taped to the robotic arm?
well, if the plan was to only kill 1/10th of him, it failed...
Liberal idiots again attacking the weapon rather than the action.
Too many have been influenced by Mighty Mouse cartoons where dispicable evil beings have been allowed to escape, regroup, and return to kill innocents time and time again as if it were an afternoon sports event with rules and referees. But none of these Monday morning quarterbacks have posited a viable alternative.
moral...... don’t bring an old rifle to a robot fight
