Trump ran ads. Very few, but he ran ads in California and Indiana. Trump also put out videos on line.

It goes to show a number of things:

If you are a screeching, fat, lesbian crook with a 40-year history of lying, murder, and corruption, people block out your ads.

If you are the only candidate proposing to save the country from invasion by armies of raping, murdering Mexicans and Muslims, people will think they’ve seen ads that don’t exist.

Money spent on TV, a dying medium, is wasted.

Sort of like when the Gestapo would open the trunks of people who were smuggling Jews, and would look right at the Jews, and not see anybody.

The one where she’s talking in the fake Arkansas accent? I heard that, I couldn’t believe she would intentionally out herself as faking an accent, but there it was, clear as a bell.

I think people are seeing anti Hillary ads which they interpret as Trump ads.

Let’s face it the FBI scandal
has been the best attack as possible. Certainly it has topped any Hillary ads.

I saw an ad this evening against Hillary and it referenced
Benghazi. I do not think it said to vote for Trump but it said not to vote for Hillary for sure.

I see lot of ads with Trump’s own words being used against him.
And a lot with some retired military officer complaining Trump doesn’t have the temperament to be CiC.

I went to the first rally this spring in Indiana
Was on the front row side so I could see the faces of the young veterans that were in VIP of front row center. They actually leaned in over the fence listening to every word. It was beautiful.
Since then have been very aware of the young men at all his rallies.
The women will follow after the families are presented at the convention
One thing no one is talking about is the families of the VP choices. I think it will weigh heavily in his choice

I have a feeling lots of people saw Hillary’s ads and immediately thought “This woman is nuts. This must be a Trump ad.”

LOL!

There was an HRC add a month or so ago detailing her beliefs/platform. I thought it was a Trump add as there wasn’t a single talking point that I agreed with.

Good analysis. The other factor is that this is really the first post-television election. Television has been the dominant force in politics since the 1960 election when the telegenic JFK defeated a decidedly untelegenic Nixon, but its best years are now well behind it.

This is the first election in which the Internet has become a major political force, which means that dollars spent on TV ads are demonstrably less effective than in years past. Between the flood of alternative information sources (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, blogs, etc.) and the combination of cord-cutting and Tivo-ing, TV ads just don't offer the ROI of years past.

Of course most modern campaigns are staffed with media consultants who are really there to push ad-buys, so it's no surprise that Hillary's top-heavy campaign is all-in for the tried-and-true ad-spend model of campaigning. Trump is a different animal and understands the social shift and how a tweet can now be more effective than a million-dollar ad-buy in several states.

I expect plenty of Trump ads for insurance purposes, but he's not going to waste money during the Summer when nobody but the talking heads are paying attention. The real ramp won't happen until after Labor Day.
