Police: Dallas Shooting Suspect Micah Johnson “Wanted To Kill White People” (Freeper question)

However, Dallas Police Chief David Brown confirmed the death of one gunman, later identified by CBS News as of 25-year old Micah Xavier Johnson of Mesquite, the suspect that police cornered in a parking garage at El Centro College in the downtown area immediately following the shooting.

According to Brown, police cornered Micah Johnson and negotiated with him for several hours. When talks broke down – they exchanged gunfire with the man. At that point, police sent in a remote vehicle and detonated a bomb – ultimately killing him.

“We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was. Other options would have exposed our officers to great danger” said Brown.

“He seemed lucid during negotiations.” said Chief Brown “He expressed anger for Black Lives Matter.”

This article is known, but I would like to talk about something specific here that I don't see being addressed.

Did police really strap a bomb to a bomb robot and send it in to kill this guy ?

Isn't that a bit outside of ROE/SOP ? Are we using killbots now ?

Hard to believe they could not have sniped this guy.

Wasn’t he on TV at one point?

If a cameraman could get a bead on him.....

Following Democrat anti Second A “logic” maybe we should ban people named Johnson since in my experience so many I locked up were named Johnson.

Probably attached a flashbang and two possible results

1) they got it close to him
2) he tried to attack the robot and got to close.

personally I’d like it if the robot shoved the flashbang somewhere painful

I’ve seen one report that stated the device detonated a bomb the suspect had close to him.

“Did police really strap a bomb to a bomb robot and send it in to kill this guy ?”

No, they used it to send in an “explosive device” to kill the guy. That’s not a bomb, its a purposeful device designed to do exactly what it did. While it did cause this guy’s death, he had time to tell his story before he died, so in the traditional description, it wasn’t a bomb.

############################################################

We can hope they did.

Better than sending in a human to take out a non human.

The terrorist Black Supremicist could have been taken out for under $20 dollars to buy gasoline, glass bottles, detergent, and rags. Perfect example of government waste.

Not unhappy they did this but it is going to cause more problems from here. I guess it does not really matter how someone is killed.

“At that point, police sent in a remote vehicle and detonated a bomb – ultimately killing him.

“We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was. Other options would have exposed our officers to great danger” said Brown.”

Just wait for it.

It really bothers me. I had hoped they’d take him out by a sniper or ambush or related police actions.

This robot thing is...very unsettling.

I WONDER IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY THAT A ROBOT HAS INTENTIONALLY KILLED A HUMAN?.............(Technically it wasn’t a true ‘robot’, just a remote controlled vehicle with manipulator arms)

I dont see what is so hard to grasp about them blowing him up.

Swat teams nearly always have grenades on them!

It wouldn't take a genius to strap a grenade to a robot with a string attached and then pull the pin when the robot was close enough to the target.

Per reports, the perp(s) planted some IEDs at various locations. No number was given. Perp basically told police to hunt for them.

I expect the shrapnel field was more limited (and directional) than a sniper’s bullet at or near the top of the parking garage. I also expect the outcome for the sniper would have been the same in either case.
