Could John Kasich Dump Trump in Cleveland?

Has John Kasich really left the race for the presidency?

In recent days, the words and actions of the Republican Ohio governor and his political staff have made the question worth asking.

In early April, Barron’s ran a cover story on Kasich, arguing that his “policy prescriptions, experience, and temperament make him the GOP’s best bet to reassure a nervous marketplace.” The Barron’s piece also pointed out that Kasich, unlike Trump and Ted Cruz, was handily beating Hillary Clinton in the polls.

A month later, on May 4, Kasich “suspended” his race for the GOP nomination after it became clear that Trump was on his way to winning on the first ballot. Ted Cruz, who had racked up the second-highest number of delegates, had dropped out one day earlier.

Since then, Kasich, who has refrained from endorsing Trump, has been keeping a low profile back in Ohio and giving few interviews about presidential politics. Though political observers and online betting parlors alike had once viewed Kasich as the leading choice to be any GOP nominee’s running mate, that possibility diminished because of the governor’s clear distaste for Trump.

Kasich has said that he will be in Cleveland during the week of the convention – the event starts Monday, July 18 – but has no plans to participate.

1 home state win trumps the whole primary process?

“Could John Kasich Dump Trump in Cleveland?”

Who cares? Kasich lost, pretty dramatically. He is irrelevant. He has little influence.

being such a strong and inspirational leader who won a slim majority of his own state in the primary, mailman John can watch his Ohio cops getting shot at by BLM as they try to shut down Trump and the GOP convention

Kasich is a jag-off!

Ask any Pittsburgher what that means.

A world class jag-off. As a Pittsburgher myself, I'm ashamed of him.

Kasich would kill Clinton. And it wouldn’t even be close. He’s so moderate that millions of Dems and the majority of independents would vote for him.

I’m voting for Trump, but I’d happily vote for Kasich. ANYONE but Clinton.

Anyone.

160 delegates for Kasich vs. 1439 for Trump. Do the math.

Kasich is also behind Cruz (552) and Rubio (173), but somehow he has home field advantage because the convention is in Ohio. Yeah, sure.

If Kasich offered to help you carry a heavy bookcase, it would be hours before you discovered it wasn’t moving because he kept pushing against you. He’s no republican and not much as an American or a person.

- Kasich voted for the “Assault” Weapons Ban. https://grabien.com/file.php?id=53463 and as of last year did not regret that vote

- Kasich supported and implemented Obamacare’s Medicare expansion http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/john-kasich-bible-medicaid_us_56140a54e4b022a4ce5fb1e3

- Kasich supports Amnesty for illegals. http://www.ontheissues.org/John_Kasich.htm

- Kasich dismissively said Christian bakers should “bake the cupcake” and participate in a gay parody of the sacrament of marriage, even if it violates their religious beliefs. https://www.frcaction.org/updatearticle/20160225/kasich-pushes

- Kasich supports Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/john-kasich-id-consider-nominating-merrick-garland-supreme-court-election-2016/

If Trump is for medical reasons unable to run, there are other candidates I would vote for. Kasich is not one of them.

They would have to scrap rule 40 and rule 16 to make that happen.

Rule 40 was changed in 2012. Originally, a candidate needed to win a plurality in 4 states to be entered into nomination. In 2012 it was changed to a majority in 8 states. Apparently, in 2016 they want it changed to a win in 1 state?

Rule 16 is the binding rule. So a band of delegates wants to totally overturn the entire primary, discard the longstanding binding rules, and nominate someone who won only 1 state after spending all year demanding that Trump must exceed 1,237 delegates, and that 1,236 wasn't good enough?

Madness...
