“is thus ineligible to continue in service.”

Why? Lots of service members don’t have a clearance.

A commissioned officer cannot function without a clearance.

U.S. Army regulations require a prospective officer to be granted a secret level of security clearance before attending any officer training program at a military academy, through ROTC or Officer’s Training School. Stands to reason if that clearance is pulled the officer must resign.

How do we know he’s being punished for sending classified information over a nonsecure system, instead of acting to prevent the killing of Americans? This is obamaland, after all.

I’m announcing today that, from this moment on, I am actively campaigning to be President of the United States, and claim the universal immunity from criminal prosecution that attends such status.

That is an excellent question and probably a lame excuse. The “progressives” have many of those.

Mistook for another case.

No worries, we're all on the same side here.

Seems odd. There is nothing in OCS that has a ‘need to know’. When I got my clearance I understood they only give them out if you need to know something.

Well, yeah, what he did was naughty, but shouldn’t the first question to be asked is what was his intent?

You are right. An FBI Background Investigation is nothing in itself except for being the basis for issuing a clearance. I think everyone gets a Confidential clearance with nothing but a police and credit check. Secret and above require a BI. Each command determines the level of security required for an individual to perform their job. Even then one must have “need to know” to handle a particular document, etc. One temporarily loses his clearance upon transfer and the next CO must issue a new clearance provided the BI is current. The investigation needs to be updated every 5 years. At least that is the way it worked 30 years ago when I retired from the Navy.

Funny how the justice system works for some, and not others.
