Already beset by a public outcry over the high-profile death of a black man in police custody and a rising murder rate, Baltimore's police department is facing another headache: it's shrinking fast.
The number of uniformed officers in the mid-Atlantic city fell 6.1 percent last year and has shrunk by even more in the first half of this year, according to police data seen by Reuters and not previously reported.
The fall in 2015 was the biggest decline in police numbers among nine comparably-sized U.S. cities reviewed by Reuters. The police force in Detroit and El Paso shrank by 4.9 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively, while Denver and Las Vegas saw increases of over 5 percent.

Moron journalists. Headline should have read, “Baltimore murder rate soars with steep fall in police numbers,” but of course, they can’t bring themselves to draw ANY correlation between the presence of armed police (OR citizens) and the murder rate.
What sane person would now want a job as a police officer in that $#*+hole?

A police officer a couple of houses down the street from me just retired. He got out as soon as he could. The politics is out of control and he hated it.
Baltimore USED TO BE called “Charm City”, back when it was still governed by sensible, competent, sane people.
The entire police department should find jobs in other jurisdictions and quit en masse. Then let the Democrats reap what they have sown. White people should leave while they still can. But, most of the white people in Baltimore are the running dogs of the Left Wing. So, when the BLM terrorists come to burn down their neighborhoods, well F’em.
I saw cops out writing tickets on my way home this evening and I wondered what in the hell they were doing. If someone is going 50 in a 40 and they don’t hit any one, that is the “cause no damage” who really cares? The new standard for the USA is no damage no charges. if a drunk driver doesn’t cause any damage or hurt anyone why should he be in trouble? I really don’t care what could have happened. The law is now clear, what could have happened does not mater. Cops out writing tickets, to people who cause no damage, whose only real crime is not being politically connected, are rather scummy people, in my opinion.
Given the direction in which this country is drifting, it’s surprising that anyone at all wants to be a cop.
Or a troop, either, for that matter.
Our peaceful town doesn’t seem to have any trouble finding cops when the council gives them the money to hire.

The politicians have turned Baltimore from the “CHARM CITY” to the “BODILY HARM CITY”
The line should have read -
“Criminal apologists say it is not clear if police shortages have contributed to a rise in may types of violent crime in the United States since 2015”.

There's really only one answer. Once no whites will take those jobs, blacks will have to police black communities. I'm sure they'll be much safer that way. (the police, not the population)
