Well, having worked in an area where guns and bad guys who have them is terribly relevant, I must say this:
Dear Supremes and Anti-Gun Useful idiots,
In the many homicides of a spouse or significant other I worked on, not one of the weapons used was registered. Not one of the murderers had a concealed weapons permit. NOT ONE OF THEM FOLLOWED THE LAW.
So you just keep making laws that the bad guys don’t follow. Just keep making laws that make it hard on the average law-abiding citizen to arm themselves. Pointless.

More and more, this nation is ruled by the PMS brigade and rational thought has no place.

So I say deal with the real problem which is frivolous or vindictive complaints about domestic violence, but make sure those convicted of real crimes do in fact lose their rights.
They do lose their rights - for 2 or 5 or 10 years, or whatever the court sentences them to. But once they're free and have completed their term of service, they shouldn't be banned from any of the rights any other freeman shall have. Else they really aren't free.
