Gun sales are on a pace to break last year's record of more than 23 million, a boon to the U.S. industry and gun stores thanks to election-year worries about gun control and recent terror attacks, according to government figures and experts.
Under Obama, background checks for guns reached 141.4 million through the end of May, amounting to sales of about 52,600 a day, according to the FBI. Last year, the FBI conducted more than 23 million background checks, which are generally used to figure sales of new and used weapons.
Domestically, manufacturers have reported producing about 21,000 guns a day, or more than 46 million in Obama's first six years in office.
And should Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton continue to best Republican Donald Trump in the polls, sales could hit new highs, according to industry experts.

My preferred form of personal protest is to just buy the cheapest lowers at any given gun show - usually $50-$75 bucks. Cheaper than an actual firearm and it logs another 4473 in the system. And of course they might come in handy some day.

A buddy and me traveled to Cabelas last week and each walked out with an evil, black gun. Mine was a Gen 2 .45 Glock. The best thing about it is I purchased it with Cabelas points.
The wife was lobbying me to instead buy one of those evil black pellet stoves but, like you I extended my middle finger as well and went the prudent route.
I have a Sub 2000.. first generation in 9mm. Nice gun to keep in the door pocket of a pickup.

Plus people are fed-up with BIG CRYBABIES. The 2016 Presidential election will make the Brexit election like a day at the beach.
So my question is... how many of those gun owners are NEW gun owners? Meaning they have never owned weapons before. It is not a pure indicator voting as there are many people that will vote for trump that do not own guns... BUT... if people invest several hundred dollars in an item, the likely hood that they will vote for an administration that would want to confiscate said weapon is very very low.

For laughs, google some articles which assert that although gun sales are increasing, the number of gun owners is actually declining, and confined mainly to OFWG’s building up their arsenals.
No, liberal columnists, what is declining is the number of gun owners willing to answer questions about their guns when posed by a stranger calling them on the telephone.

How many of those ‘back ground’ checks failed and the gun still sold? Orlando comes to mind real quick about the failure of the FBI to even respond to the gun shops suspicious person calls. FBI FUBAR!
I’ve had to go through both the State and Fed checks twice, because of the Patriot Act to get and keep my CCW permit which I got prior to 9/11.
The new super Bass Pro in Memphis has enough guns to satisfy anyone’s want list so my grand son (14) said after a tour. And boy does he have a large want list. Better get a good job then and save your $$. Got lucky and his uncle let him take his old out grown compound and re-curve bows and I let him have his late grand dad’s arrows, wouldn’t let him have the compound bow, couldn’t draw it if he wanted to any way.
Folks will simply get creative in regards to getting ammo.
And if these gun owners were all NRA members all this control BS would have been long gone
