Unless you’re going to invest several hundred thousand dollars to a million don’t even go there. Anything less than that your local bank will give you the best exchange rate but will tack on somewhere between 5-7%. Do that on both transactions (buy and later sell) and you have to have a significant spread to make any money.
By the way I’ll be in London next week. At least some things will be cheaper for me...
