Nate Bethea Reinforces Bankruptcy of Anti-Second Amendment Camp
American Thinker ^ | June 25, 2016 | William A. Levinson

I reported previously how Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) subordinated his prior honorable service in our armed forces to his party's official position on the Second Amendment. This is particularly disappointing because, while we expect somebody like Harry Reid to lie about the difference between military assault rifles and the kinds of rifles that are available to civilians, obfuscation and misrepresentation are not the kind of conduct we expect from a former Marine officer. Nate Bethea similarly begins his attack on the Second Amendment by misrepresenting what is and is not an "assault rifle."

"I could buy that rifle [M-4] online, including all the accessories, with minimal difficulty… But the weapon I carried could be mine again, with only slight variations. I could once again own a little part of that regrettable era."

The "slight variation" to which Mr. Bethea refers is a very major variation. The rifle he carried in Afghanistan is capable of fully automatic fire, which means it shoots as long as the user holds the trigger down and ammunition is available. As most M-4s were manufactured after May 19, 1986, it is impossible to purchase them legally online or offline, in a private sale or through a licensed dealer, under any circumstances. You cannot even get a Federal automatic weapon permit for one. The legal variants require the user to squeeze off each shot, which is probably a good idea anyway for anybody who actually wants to hit the targets at the other end of the firing range rather than just making a lot of noise. Recall that the 501(c)(3) tax exempt Violence Policy Center said openly that it seeks to similarly exploit the public's ignorance, rather than educate the public, over this difference to advance its agenda.

Liberalism is a poisonous card that will trump any other virtuous ones a man may hold.

Well, the likes of betrayus, mccrystal, kelly-giffords and a lot more upper ranking former military officers have violated the oath to protect and defend the constitution. It must have changed since I swore mine back in ‘67. Don’t remember any portion of the oath being selective to the parts I happen to agree with or disagree with.

The Left has to LIE to make their points because their arguments hold no factual ground.

It is one reason why I think the notorious, blatant and serial LIAR , Crooked Hillary, is their presidential standard bearer. Being LIARS themselves, they feel a kinship with the biggest LIAR of them all.

In almost every case, the ergonomics are built around full auto use, not semi-auto.

Massachusetts political ambition subverts everything it touches.

But a Marine officer should do better than this, even an obama Marine officer.

Shameful.

***like Harry Reid to lie about the difference between military assault rifles and the kinds of rifles that are available to civilians,***

I remember the good olden days before the 1968 Gun Control Law. Beginning in 1962, New England congressmen began to lobby to ban the import of 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifles, to “control” crime. They really were wanting to protect America’s high dollar hunting rifle makers Winchester, Remington and Savage from cheap competition.

In 1968, the ban was enacted. No more ARMY SURPLUS RIFLES could be imported. BUT it ONLY affected Army issued rifles. POLICE Rifles that were exactly the same could still be imported even though they came off the same assembly line as the Army rifles.
Now that ban has been lifted as the 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifle was not “Evil Personified” as the congressmen and MSM had tried to make us believe.
Problem now is the new generations of Americans like semi-auto rifles, and this has the Liberals in a tizzy.

Always remember before negotiating away some of your Second Amendment rights. When you go to the negotiating table say this..”I will give up to you the extended magazine and flash hider. NOW, What will YOU(the anti-gunner) give up to us!”

You will find they have NOTHING TO GIVE UP! NOTHING TO NEGOTIATE WITH!

You have the guns. They have nothing.

From the TEXAS Declaration of independence...

“It has demanded us to deliver up our arms, which are essential to our defence, the rightful property of freemen, and formidable only to tyrannical governments.”

NEVER GIVE UP YOUR GUNS!
