Capitol Insider: Kasich plans public events during GOP convention in Cleveland
dispatch ^

John Kasich reiterated last week that he’s still not sure of his formal role at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland that is to nominate Donald Trump in a month.

But that doesn’t mean the Ohio governor won’t be visible. He is quietly putting together both public events and private meetings during the four-day gig in his home state.

“What he does publicly will be focused on his vision of a Republican Party based on conservative principles that brings everyone together and gives all Americans a chance to rise,” said spokesman Chris Schrimpf. “It could be a combination of his own event or events done in partnership with another organization or group.”

Kasich also is increasing his presence in House and Senate campaigns across the country, including Sen. John McCain's re-election bid in Arizona and Sen. Rand Paul's in Kentucky. Kasich will raise money and make personal appearance for other congressional races, too, Schrimpf confirmed.

Such activities are sure to increase the mutterings that Kasich is gathering IOUs and laying the groundwork for another presidential bid in 2020, perhaps running on an “I Told You So” platform — presuming, of course, that Trump gets trounced in November.

Last week, longtime Kasich backer Bruce Berke of New Hampshire tweeted, perhaps jokingly, “ Bumper stickers on the way: DON'T BLAME me — I voted for @JohnKasich"

If he reserves a booth at Denny’s now, he’ll have just enough room to accommodate the massive crowds such an event are sure to inspire.

“What he does publicly will be focused on his vision of a Republican Party based on conservative principles that brings everyone together and gives all Americans a chance to rise,”

"Chance to rise"?

"Right to rise"?

I think Kay-sick just may have been consulting with Jebuardo Bush and his criminal syndicate.

Dear Governor Kasich,

Do us a favor. Stay in Columbus for the week of the RNC, and keep all of your turncoat buddies there with you. Cleveland will do just fine without your "help".

The guy who came in 4th behind Trump, Cruz and Rubio might not even need a booth at Denny’s. A bar stool at the counter would do just fine.

John Kasich is a Sneak Guy! Something’s up. He’s pretending not to know what it is,and can barely conceal his excitement.

How is he planning to pay for all of this? With money that Trump is raising for the GOP?

He didn’t win the nomination. He’s just helping Hillary.

Kasich wouldn’t know a “conservative principle” if one jumped up and bit him in the crotch.
