Donald Trump Threatens to Self-Fund Campaign if GOP Support Wavers
NBC News ^ | JUN 19 2016, 8:23 ET | by ALEXANDRA JAFFE and HALLIE JACKSON

LAS VEGAS — Donald Trump on Saturday claimed most of the money he's been collecting at his recent fundraisers is going to the Republican Party, but also threatened to cut the GOP off if support from the party wavers.

"Right now I'm raising a lot of money for the Republican Party, and a lot of beneficiaries to that, and I like doing it," Trump said.

"Life is like a two-way street, right?" Trump said. "They have to [help], otherwise I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, I'll just keep funding my own campaign…for me, that's the easy way," he said.

Trump's candidacy has been problematic for some in the GOP. Some Republican delegates in Colorado are moving forward with a plan to oust Trump at the party's convention. And House Speaker Paul Ryan on Friday said he wouldn't instruct House members to vote for Trump, saying they should vote their conscience.

Trump in Las Vegas Saturday dismissed efforts to oust him at the convention as a "hoax" that was "made up by the press."

Trump also pointed out the grassroots effort haven't tapped an alternative.

"Who were they going to pick? I've beat everybody," Trump said. "But I don't mean beat, I beat the hell out of them, right? Beat the hell out of them."

Trump accused two of his former opponents — Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush — of being in on the effort.

There are several Repubbies who are traitors, whom I am thoroughly convinced a good Singapore caning would be highly cleansing for their well beings -and ours! There is one named after rinsing dishes, another who is from Wisconsin who has had a Muzziebrohood beard...another who looks like a turtle, ...the list goes on.

They are peanuts compared to the damage the alphabets are trying to do. Day and night slander and one jerkoff hired 20 journalists to research his whole life. I’m not sure on that one.

MSM should read up on Bastille Day.

I thought he was self funding his campaign. I honestly have tweets and videos of him saying this.

Did I miss something?

Why is he even bothering? He said he’d self-fund, he should definitely go ahead and be done with it. Aside from Adelson, no traditional backer has stepped to the plate.

The sooner Trump opens his checkbook the less energy and attention need to be paid to this.

He's said he would self fund the primary, but not necessarily self fund the general. He doens't make this distinction often, so it's natural to think he was planning to self fund all the way through the general.

He has also always accepted individual donations. I think it's fair to say that he has no need to align behind a wealthy donor, which is what other politicians have to do.

Keep up with what?? Everything Trump has said 5, 10, 15, and 20 years has been expunged from the record because of his supposed Saul at Tarsus conservative epiphany....but the self-funding business was something he himself volunteered during this current campaign.

“Fur Sure” aside, why should that pledge be unpledged?

He said he didn’t need them. He wasn’t going to be beholden to any special interests. Why is he looking for handouts all of a sudden? Seems weak.

He won the GOP primary with 50 million of his own money, I wonder how much he could not spend and still win the general...

It’s not as though accepting the money from special interests now is somehow less corrupting than accepting it during the primaries. People who write million dollar checks tend to expect payback regardless of the date on the check.

Trump in Las Vegas Saturday dismissed efforts to oust him at the convention as a "hoax" that was "made up by the press."

It WAS a disprovable hoax, but certainly a rumor that NO RNC rep (the job of Princess Prius), NO Republican (except for perhaps Jeff Sessions) and certainly neither McConnell or Ryan made ANY attempt to tamp down. By not doing so and dismissing the rumors, the RNC-GOPe tossed kerosene on the MSM tire fire, and they knew it.

The sooner Trump accepts the notion that the RNC will NOT help him financially or creatively, and instead only will be using him to help THEM raise RNC funds, the sooner he needs to self-fund and put together a the best people for the job. He can't allow Hitlery to gain any more momentum.

There is a bit of space between "self funding" and "accepting the money from special interests." I mean, one does not necessarily leap from one to the next. He's raising money for GOP candidates, and he expects GOP money and resources to help him in the general. He's always accepted individual donations (so technically, he's never been purely self funding). What moneyed special interest has stepped up to buy him?

Wow!!!!! 2 post!!! You must be so proud to have posted twice on a question!!! I feel so schooled now! And so foolish as both your post were so eloquent!!!! Please throw yet a third post! Another gif file would probably shut the site down with the sheer amount of wit that comes attached so you may want to stick with a jpg. Thank you cobol programmer. I will sleep well dreaming about how life, as you, would be so amazing. Then I will wake up slightly depressed. Realizing, I am only my humble self.
