Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) says that people find it surprising that members of Congress are in “year nine without a cost of living increase” and House members who make $174,000 a year, are “deserving of being paid appropriately.” […]

“Some substantial number of members of this body are multi-millionaires, a significant number of members of this body easily qualify to be in the middle-class or the upper-class — and there are some members here who are in the lower-class in our society,” Hastings said. […]

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, the median net worth of a member of Congress was $1,029,505 in 2013, with 50.8 percent of the members of Congress ranked as millionaires. The U.S. Census Bureau reports that median income for a household in the U.S. was $53,657 in 2014. …

I agree. They are not being paid appropriately. They shouldn’t be getting a dime for what those assholes do.

I agree. Congress is paid inappropriately. They make too damn much money for what they do. How about $35,000 / yr., they go on ObamaCare with NO taxpayer subsidies with a Max of two terms in office.........for starters.

If they have to maintain two residents at their expense, that take a chunk out of the high salary. You are looking at $35,000 for a modest place to live in DC? Now they are down to $130,000.

Since so many of our office holders are in it for the graft and corruption and kickbacks and sale of governmental favors ( just ask Hillary), We may as well just cancel all wages and benefits for the jobs. We will save a few bucks and there won’t be the slightest drop in the “quality” of politicians

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.) says that people find it surprising that members of Congress are in “year nine without a cost of living increase” >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Alic, Alice, Alice!

According to Trump statisticians, the country has had a net decrease in wages for the last 18 years.

All you have to do Alice is to reduce US corporate income tax and capital gains and the economy will bloom. But no Alice, you and your idjit congress critters have effed things up so bad you should have a REDUCTION in wages, parallel to the rest of the country’s devolution over 18 years.

And EFF you to Alice ( in Wonderland!).

Congressional pay should be linked directly to military pay. Representatives should be paid like Army first lieutenants, Senators like Army captains. Or less.

The state that elected them should pay for them. They then could get a daily stipend while in session of 40 dollars a day from the federal government, and one round trip ticket back to their state and that is it!

$35.00 per year. Cut their pay to zero until the 19 trillion is gone.

He’s right. Their pay should be cut by 50%, their cushy retirement and health benefits should be eliminated entirely.

This slimeball actually worked, in a manner of speaking, all of 15 years, after spending 24 years trying for federal public office and a real license to steal. He finally made it.

This black rat is one of the poster boys for corruption of all kinds in Federal government.

He is last rank in the net worth of congressmen with a measly $4.7 million.
Of course he thinks he is worth a lot more than that, from a Florida district with the average voter IQ hovering in the neighborhood of 40...

Just check out his legacy, and judge for yourself...

That he has lasted 19 years in the house is a testament to the sorry state of elected criminals.

Rat Politician Poster Boy

He should have been jailed the first time he was convicted of serious crimes.

Clinton Pardoned him.
Does any more need be said?

Doogle :" POS "

There is a reason why Congress is called " Public Service".
That is what it is supposed to be .. a service to the Nation.
It was never meant to be a career by the Founding Fathers !
