The events in Orlando no longer surprise me

We truly do live in perilous times. Ours is an age in which no depth of evil, nor any rationalization for that evil, can any longer surprise the thinking person, who is more likely than ever to be a cynic of the first order. We see it in its grossest forms all around us, practically every day. So it is with the news that came out of Orlando earlier this week. I am sad to say that nothing about this story, which continues to evolve on an hourly basis, surprises me in the least.

Who can be surprised to learn that a radical Muslim fanatic shot up a gay bar in Orlando? I am certainly not – the only thing that surprises me is that it took this long for an attack as big as this one to happen here in America. In this sense, we're somewhat behind the curve. Europe has been seeing radical Muslim fanatics commit mass murders at outposts of hedonism (as well as everything else) for years now. Nothing is new there. Certainly, even here in the States, we've grown used to Muslim fanatics going on shooting rampages. Orlando is only the latest in a long line of crimes that include San Bernardino, Chattanooga, Dallas, Fort Hood, and many others. This is what serious, committed Muslims do – they kill other people. Islam grants a license to be a complete and utter wretched scumbag towards everyone else.

Equally unsurprising is the government and the media's attempts to completely whitewash and downplay the Muslim nature of this attack. The media widely report when some no-name ACLU lawyer proclaims that the attack at the Pulse was really the fault of "right wing Christians," rather than the Muslim who actually committed it. Treasonous dogs within our political establishment – such as Hillary Clinton – fall all over themselves to assure that Islam had nothing to do with it, nothing whatsoever. This despite the fact that the shooter, Omar Mateen, was a radical Muslim who attended a mosque where he was taught to kill homosexuals, who had pledged allegiance to ISIS, whose father was a supporter of the Taliban, and who had previously been investigated by the FBI for making death threats. Even the possibility that Mateen was gay, which it complicates the narrative the left wing is attempting to build, doesn't substantially alter the facts in the case. All that would mean is that a bunch of gay non-Muslims were murdered by a gay Muslim fanatic, whose crime is subsequently being papered over by the gay Muslim in the White House.

However, it's not necessarily certain that Mateen had visited the Pulse for the purpose of hooking up with gays, especially when we consider that his wife had previously driven him to the bar on other occasions. More likely, he was there scouting it out for his attack. So the left-wing media's attempt to throw the gays under the bus in an effort to protect Islam will probably not pan out in the end.

It comes as no surprise to find out that the Left is attempting to use this to push for more gun control. Because of course they are. Nothing says evil like attempting to ride a wave of dead bodies into an unnecessary public policy debate that you've never been able to win with facts or reason. As with every single other previous mass shooting, more gun control would not have done a thing to stop this, or even slow it down. In fact, in this particular case, the mass shooter could get his guns because he was approved by the government itself. See, Mateen was a private security contractor for G4S, a company which provides security for, among other things, courthouses and lower security prisons. Mateen himself was employed as a guard at a juvenile detention facility, and had previously been posted at the St. Lucie County Courthouse, and before that at the Martin Correctional Facility in Indiantown, Florida. Mateen was licensed to carry a firearm specifically because of his job as a contractor with the government. Depending on his current contract, Mateen could have legally carried a gun on his person and walked into a courthouse and simply flashed his credentials and gotten in – something which you or I could not do. How is more gun control going to stop that?

The answer is, "It won't."

Another fact that is conveniently left out of the Left's narrative is that the Pulse, the gay bar where this shooting took place, was a gun-free zone. This is important because 96.2% of all mass shootings that took place between January 1998 and December 2015 occurred in gun-free zones. When those on the Left call for gun-free zones, they are literally calling for civilians, children, women, to be murdered.

Nothing demonstrates the evil, tyrannical nature of the radical Left as much as when they try to use incidents such as the Orlando shooting to advance their gun control agenda. However, the reason the American people continue to reject the Left's arguments on this is because they simply make no sense whatsoever. Intuitively, anyone with even moderate intelligence knows that taking away guns from law-abiding suburbanites and country folks is not going to stop crime in the inner city, nor is it going to stop radical Muslim wackos. The obvious reason why the government wants to take away guns from the suburbanites and the country folks is because they know that those are the folks who would resist should the government ever overstep so far that it crosses into the realm of open and unapologetic tyranny. Gun control isn't about crime or terrorism, it's about disarming the people who would exert control over their own government.

Which is evil. Our whole system is premised upon the fact that the government is subordinate to the people, and derives from the historical fact that every antecedent system in which the people have not been armed leads to the oppression and destruction of the people. Essentially, when Hillary Clinton and other Democrats argue for gun control, they're not altruistically seeking to save lives, they're wickedly trying to destroy them. Calling for gun control is tantamount to treason against the United States and its Constitution. It's a direct attack on We the People who constitute this nation.

Yet, it should not surprise us to see the Left acting in this disgusting manner. It's what they do. Liberals, progressives, SJWs, and all the rest are incapable of responding to tragedies such as the Orlando shooting in a way that demonstrates normal human compassion and empathy. While Chick-Fil-A, that evil, horrible, anti-gay, homophobic Christian cesspool of hate and bigotry was handing out free food to those giving blood for the victims of the shooting, the radical Left was busy trying to come up with the narrative they would need to use the shooting for their own ends. What a bunch of sick, sociopathic freaks. Truly, to be a left-winger is to be a deranged psychopath – which probably explains why most of the prominent mass shootings in recent years (UVA, Tucson, Columbine, etc.) were committed by left-leaning perps who were on psychotropic drugs. Even Omar Mateen was a registered Democrat who reportedly hated Donald Trump. They truly do have the "reprobate minds" spoken of in Romans 1:28.

So sadly, nothing surprises me anymore. Not the violence. Not the wholly inappropriate and disgusting response to the violence from the fruitcakes on the Left.

Frankly, the best things we could do if we really wanted to stop this kind of violence would be rather drastic, and probably unacceptable in the current political climate. However, they would involve two things that are diametrically opposed to the goals of the current left-wing narrative.

First – stop further Muslim immigration into America, monitor the mosques, deport any Muslims who show a hint of radicalism, and employ overt tactics designed to deracinate Islam in America and turn Muslims away from it.

Second – we need a good and healthy dose of civic republicanism with respect to the place of guns in our society. Instead of banning them, we should restore a genuine militia system tasked with keeping the peace inside the borders of this country. Every law-abiding home ought to have a fully automatic weapon in it, and every law-abiding adult American ought to be given military-style training and be tasked with serving in a nationwide "hue and cry" type of "neighborhood watch." When no gun-free zones exist, the barrel shoot for Muslim terrorists and other crazies will be over.

It's time to stop listening to the Left and to start responding to these types of shootings in a reasonable, common sense fashion.

To me, the major elements in this shooter’s life and environment are (1) Islam, (2) a self hatred of a bisexual whose father and religion forbid any such feelings, (3) a life of barely suppressed anger at those around him and the country he lived in, (4) an idolized desire to live in a pure Islamic culture.

Ban guns and only muslims working as security guards for the government will have guns.
