I’ve been thinking the same since I saw his father on TV.
The man is cold and calculating. Not what you would expect from a man whose son did this. I got the feeling that the Father has actually been using his son as a jihadi tool.

I posted to another Thread that I believe the Father may have had a role, along with groups like CAIR, in having the FBI drop their investigation.
Not surprising, since he was a self-hating homosexual.
