Trump’s Identity Politics Audacity
American Conservative, the ^ | 08 June 2016 | Rod Dreher

He uses the Left’s identity politics strategies against them ___ For years I’ve warned that the Left is playing a dangerous game by embracing illiberal identity politics. Last week, the liberal writer Jonathan Chait wrote about the “ideological fissure” on the Left: Why is it wrong for Trump to gripe about how a Latino judge is bound to be unfair to him by virtue of his ethnicity, but okay for Sonia Sotomayor to assert that a Latina judge could be more fair as a result of her ethnicity? Why is it wrong for white people to look out for their interests as a racial group, but okay for blacks, Hispanics, and others to do the same?

You can’t have it both ways. The Left laid the groundwork for Trump, and for his brand of race-based resentment. Many on the Left embraced that kind of politics so long as it advanced their cause. Now, not so much. I take no pleasure at all in the rise of Donald Trump, but I do find it enjoyable to observe folks on the Left expressing shock and outrage that a blustery white guy is using their own tactics against them.

It is also pleasurable to observe how Trumpism exposes the rottenness in certain institutions. Take DePaul University, for example. Recently, the pro-Trump provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos visited campus at the invitation of the College Republicans, and had his event shut down by Black Lives Matter and other Social Justice Warriors — one of whom struck him. Look:

Yes! Unfortunately, most are too blind to see what he is doing, and I'm not even sure he is doing it intentionally.

However, this is something that needs to be done on a sustained basis ... not just one offs like this Trump/Curiel flap.

Also the 1% cr@p needs to be used against them as well. Go after their 1% darlings, including the many people who are enriched by taxpayers through government jobs/benefits or contracts.

We should not let them have it both ways.

Too bad Rod Dreher, for I take great pleasure, and even pride, in the rise of Donald Trump.

Even this writer doesn’t get it!

Trump isn’t a racist, no evidence anywhere to show he is. Plenty to show he is NOT.

But he played rope a dope with all the media (of course the stupid republicans fell right in because they are among the most clueless mammals on earth) on this one. The judge IS A MEMBER OF A VERY RACIST ORGANIZATION. The founder wished all white Californians to go back to Europe.

Trump wasn’t objecting to the judge’s personal ethnicity BUT HIS CHOICE AT AFFILATION WITH RACIST ORGANIZATIONS.

No one in the media still understands this.

"Why is it wrong for Trump to gripe about how a Latino judge is bound to be unfair to him by virtue of his ethnicity, but okay for Sonia Sotomayor to assert that a Latina judge could be more fair as a result of her ethnicity? "

Because for all of their bluster and pablum about helping the downtrodden, the people the system is stacked against etc...their actions really come down to one thing:

Does help the Democrat party? If so, support it. If not, decry it.

It's that simple.

Liberals don't create a standard, see a situation, apply standard.
Liberals see a situation and apply any standard that benefits the Democrat party even if they applied the standard in exactly the opposite way 5 minutes before

And they don't see anything wrong with doing so.
