A public indoor swimming pool near Regensburg has issued a ban on the burqini, which some Muslim women choose to wear for modesty.
The ban was imposed after the pool in Neutraubling held a women-only swim day, the Mittelbayerische Zeitung reported last week.
One young woman chose to swim and do water aerobics in a burqini, eliciting loud complaints from the other women there.
The complaints reached the town officials, who decided to place a ban on the burqini as non-typical swim attire.

Go to pools that you have to pay a good fee like health clubs or businesses.
I don’t think you would likely go to an inner city public pool because of health and saftey issues. And that’s before getting in the water - LoL!

Of all the problems they’re having with Moslems, they make a stand on this?!

The past two times I’ve gone for a birthday party at our local (city) pool it was cut short by some cretin kid defacating in the pool. We’ve stopped going. Period.

Lol... I was thinking the same thing. They don’t react strictly enough when mid-eastern men are sexually assaulting women, But -by God- we draw the line at Muslim women dressing modestly in a swimming pool.

I don’t like the idea of state authorities banning things simply on the basis of being “non-typical”. Bad precedent. Even if it is something as trivial as non-typical swim attire.

Mayor Kiechle further said that because the pool is financed publicly for all citizens, it would not make sense to make special arrangements for individual religions that may adversely affect the general public. This also contradicts the fundamental ideas of integration and mutual understanding, which is always being discussed in many towns. finally, a German Mayor with gonads.

Nice. While I can understand that a modest woman wouldn't want to dress like that, the burqini looks like it restricts movement and can't be comfortable. If you have to cover yourself from head-to-toe in public, maybe swimming isn't for you.
But a one-piece can still be attractive:

I had the same question. They would be far better off banning those who would want or advocate wearing a burqa while swimming.

Why would women at a woman-only swim event complain loudly about one woman who is dressed modestly?
1. They're worried about the camel's nose under the tent?
2. German culture frowns on anything "atypical"?
3. They're mad they can't see more?
