Some folks need to get a grip on the literal translation.

The current name, "La Raza", derives from the term "La Raza Cosmica", a concept of Mexicans (specifically those who are of mixed European/Mestizo blood) as a superior race that was arising and would emerge as a world-leading force. The earliest use of the term is from the inter-war period, late 1920s or so. A book was written about it in the 1940s.

A pinch of Nazi ideology, a dab of Marxism, and a great big dollop of racism, all served up as an approved augmentation to national pride, post-Mexican Revolution. The Mexican government has never openly embraced this stuff, but they certainly agree with the anti-capitalist stuff.

The implied meaning is somewhat different than that of the Nazis' "Master Race", but the same time period saw both beliefs arise. More than a coincidence?

For “THE RACE” everything, outside “THE RACE”, nothing. Their ultimate goal is the ethnic cleansing of America and replacing its natural born citizens with themselves:

MEChA and the La Raza movement teach that Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington State make up an area known as “Aztlan” — a fictional ancestral homeland of the Aztecs before Europeans arrived in North America. As such, it belongs to the followers of MEChA. These are all areas America should surrender to “La Raza” once enough immigrants, legal or illegal, enter to claim a majority, as in Los Angeles. The current borders of the United States will simply be extinguished.

This plan is what is referred to as the “Reconquista” or reconquest, of the Western U.S.

But it won’t end with territorial occupation and secession. The final plan for the La Raza movement includes the ethnic cleansing of Americans of European, African, and Asian descent out of “Aztlan.”

As Miguel Perez of Cal State-Northridge’s MEChA chapter has been quoted as saying: “The ultimate ideology is the liberation of Aztlan. Communism would be closest [to it]. Once Aztlan is established, ethnic cleansing would commence: Non-Chicanos would have to be expelled — opposition groups would be quashed because you have to keep power.”

The razistas are extreme right wing nationalists. They're only "left wing" in the United States. They are related to the ideology of Spanish Falangist Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera, Hispanidad, the old right wing "Mexicanist" movement, and perhaps to the pro-Nazi Golden Shirts as well.

The "Left" is jingoistic and super-patriotic outside the "west" and it's time they were called on it. Unfortunately, Donald Trump doesn't seem bright enough to do this.

Like I said in my first response to you, THEY DID!

From the posted article:

According to Google Translate, the Spanish noun raza means “race, breed, colorcast.” If these radical groups wanted to express the idea of “people” in their names they could have chosen gente, pueblo, personas, habitantes, nación, or súbditos. For “community,” they could have selected comunidad, colectividad, sociedad, común, union, or mancomunidad.

Of course, Murguia and Judge Curiel’s group are lying. La raza can be translated as “the master race,” and the concept of the “Hispanic” was only invented in 1972 by President Richard Nixon, four years after NCLR was founded.

As Mark Krikorian of the nonpartisan Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) has explained, the concept of la raza emerged as Nazism gained steam in the 1920s and was the brainchild of former Mexican secretary of public education Jose Vasconcelos. The politician and thinker has been called the “cultural caudillo” of the Mexican Revolution.

La raza “can be traced to the ideas and writings of Jose Vasconcelos, the Mexican theorist who developed the theory of la raza cosmica (the cosmic or super race) at least partially as a minority reaction to the Nordic notions of racial superiority,” New Mexico Highlands University professors Guillermo Lux (history) and Maurilio Vigil (political science) wrote.

They continued:

“Vasconelos developed a systematic theory which argued that climatic and geographic conditions and mixture of Spanish and Indian races created a superior race. The concept of La Raza connotes that the mestizo is a distinct race and not Caucasian, as is technically the case.”

(Mestizo, by the way, is a Spanish word used in Latin America to refer to someone who is of mixed race, usually the child of a person of Spanish descent and an American Indian. One third of U.S. Hispanics identify as mixed-race while mestizos “represent a racial majority in Mexico[.]”)

So la raza really does mean “the Master Race, but rather than based on notions of racial purity, La Raza’s inherent, biological superiority is based on its hybridity, on the mixing in Latin America of, in Vasconcelos’s words, ‘the black, the Indian, the Mongol, and the white,’” writes Krikorian. La raza really means that “Hispanics, and specifically Mestizos, are superior to those of us unfortunate enough not to be part of the cosmic race.””

Do not help them hide their racism, always use the English, The Race, not La Raza.

Good idea... or always us both together...

If you go back to the late 1800’s and the population of Mexico, you’ll find that those holding White European Ancestry was in the majority of the nation. It wasn’t until about the 1940’s that mestizos began to be the majority.

Add in a good dose of Marxism and revisionist history taught by the “skools” down there and you’ll have a good bit of folks like my white Spanish cousins thinking their ancestors were Mayans.

The whole “la raza” idea reminds me of Nazi ideology to be honest. I lived in Mexico for 10 years.

Ahh, the acronyms. Deniability.

The Hispanic lawyers group knows nothing of this.

The La Raza lawyers know nothing of La Raza.

No one knows what it means.

La Raza knows nothing of MECha, and none of them know anything about Aztlan.

Just good Americans.

But you missed one. RUP, Raza Unida Party, MECha's predecessor.

And who were these good peaceful folk looking to for advice (about establishing Aztlan) in the early 1980s. In Beirut.

The guy in the middle with the tablecloth on his head isn't a waiter in the restaurant owned by the guy in the portrait on the wall.

Not peaceful, just picked the wrong adviser.

I heard of the Palestinian connection but my first acquaintance with RUP. Thanks. More info has to get out there, if nothing else, so ppl get serious about what we’re up against. Too many people think LA RAZA is like some Mex version of a Greek fraternity.

The American media and the leftist elites that pull their strings oddly give a pass to racist ethno centric minorities that create their own supremacist organizations. These groups are fully organized and orchestrated to advance their own ethnicity, while legacy Americans such as white Methodists and Anglos that still make up majority of our democracy are excluded from the Supreme Court. I essentially agree with Trump that such groups are a threat to equality and justice. These groups are no less controversial than KKK? We need to wake up Americans to the ienquiry of double standards.
