Under Dem pressure, Sanders giving mixed messages on post-primary plans

Bernie Sanders is blasting out mixed messages about his presidential campaign plans once the dust settles from Tuesday’s last major batch of primaries – on one hand vowing to fight to the convention, and on the other saying he’ll “assess” his options Wednesday, as he returns home to Burlington.

The speculation is swirling as Sanders faces mounting pressure from senior Democrats to step aside and let likely nominee Hillary Clinton charge ahead in the general election battle against Donald Trump. President Obama reportedly is expected to get behind Clinton in a matter of days.

But Sanders’ plans are the big X-factor.

Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin, of Illinois, said Tuesday, when asked whether Sanders may quit the race, “All bets are off until the convention.”

Sanders’ campaign lashed out at the media overnight after the Associated Press declared that Clinton had reached the necessary 2,383 delegates to clinch the nomination.

“There is nothing to concede,” he told KTVU. “Secretary Clinton will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to win the Democratic nomination. She will be dependent on superdelegates.”

If something happened to allow the superdelegates to bolt from HRC, I can only imagine the scene from the Wizard of Oz, where the Wicked Witch’s soldiers cheered when they learned of her death. Of course, the question is ... now what?

I can’t wait for Philly to burn to the ground. Was funny I flew to Philly on election night 2008. I figured that if I saw the city in flames from the airplane, that Obama had lost. I saw no flames, so knew what the election results were before I even turned on my phone.

Venezuela needs a new leader. And it won’t take any effort to do to that country what he wants to do to the US. He should check if they require the president to be a natural born citizen.

He might consider emigrating to Venezuela.

His brand of insanity is much valued there.

Kinda like electing a Black Pope! Lots of black smoke, he lost, no smoke, he won!

What Bernie is doing makes perfect sense to me.

Why should he be the good Democrat and roll over for the common good when at heart (and technically) he is an independent? He caucuses with them, but have they given him committee appointments?

He’s a true believer. He thinks Hillary will f’ up a golden opportunity to further transform the USA just as he thinks Chavez and Maduro screwed up socialism in Venezuela. They just didn’t do it hard enough.

He’s 74... this is his one golden chance at his dream of making the society around him works the way he thinks it should. It’s a cosmic case of Asperger’s.

He’s just got to play out the string, and make it about the corrupt system unpledged, corrupted delegates.
