The nation’s largest veterans group hit back at President Obama on Thursday and urged him not to “denigrate” their intelligence after the president suggested their members were easily swayed by cable news and “right-wing radio.”
The Veterans of Foreign Wars called out the president after Obama referenced the political opinions at “VFW halls” in an Indiana speech Wednesday that toggled between campaign politics and the economy.

They won’t let their patriotism confuse contempt for Obama for respect for the office he unfortunately holds, but they should disinvite him from the national convention and introduce a motion of censorship.
I don’t know if the American Legion should be happy or offended to be omitted from Øbama’s remarks. Maybe we can put his picture up right next to Jane Fonda’s, though, as a “tribute.” But given the way he carries an umbrella, it won’t be of much help to him.

If you’re hanging out at the VFW or American Legion halls, you’re probably one of the PTSD whackos that may or may not be on the no fly/no gun list that the feds have. You know how dangerous those former military types are.
McCain and Obama both attacked the VFW on pretty much the same day, in different states.

Our First Amendment right of free speech is on the brink. Between political correctness, looming government control of the Internet, a lapdog media tied to the liberal elites and being denigrated for even holding opinions contrary to the government we are rapidly moving to a totalitarian state. I expect in the future we may be hiding in our basements listening to clandestine shortwave broadcasts of uncensored news from beyond the Obama curtain.

VFW and American Legion are a shadow of thei heyday 1960s and 70s
It was mostly a WWII thing and we know they’re almost gone
Around here the posts are mostly gone or transformed to community things for Friday nite fish fries and whatnot
In Fairhope Alabama the two posts occupy opposite sides of old 98 in the curve below town headed to Point Clear
I think the VFW hangs on but the Legion is a big old white community thing with great fish on Friday nite on the bay under live oaks and moss
