LMTV's Light Medium Tactical Vehicles are easy to tip on a good day.
People do not understand the awesome power of flowing water.
Prayers up for my fellow Soldiers.

Not a good day to go training on low water crossing. Part of Ft. Hood are closed because of high water. Somebody screwed up royally.

WATERY CROSSING: A truck drives across the second low-water bridge from Blakely Dam Road on Owl Creek Road after heavy rains on Friday caused the creek to rise over the road.

We had an M-88 Recovery Vehicle towing an M-60 tank get washed away at Otter Creek at Fort Knox. That’s about 120 tons.

At least 12 soldiers were involved, three drowned, three okay and six unaccounted for.
Somebody is going to be held accountable for crossing that low water crossing even if it
wasn’t that deep. There is a major difference between still water and water with a
fast moving current.
A lot of Texas is having flooding problems of record breaking proportions.
Additional rain is forecast for the upcoming weekend in these areas.

That is what I was thinking.

You are right. If the flowing water covers your tire and is up to your wheel rim, you are likely in a bad spot. It doesn’t take much flowing water to push a vehicle downstream.

If it’s anything like low water crossings around here, it’s concrete poured over culvert pipe and they have no guardrail. Real easy to drive off one side when you can’t see the edges.
Or, they could have run up on something like a log that they couldn’t see.

I wonder what U.S. “peacetime” losses are, and the losses that occurred during “The Cold War” period. Yesterday certainly seemed like a disastrous day for our military.
