The Memorial Day Google doodle that wasn't the right thing

Doodle means to scribble absentmindedly.

But Google Doodles are intentional iconography that attempt to redraw America's great history. They elevate peripheral figures to iconic status and relegate religious holidays to amorphous greetings.

Google leverages its ubiquitous platform to doodle about holidays, anniversaries and famous people.

But yesterday was Memorial Day, previously called Decoration Day – a day to remember the veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice so we could live free as a nation, so that a few days earlier President Barack Hussein Obama (D) could visit Hiroshima, the Japanese city bombed by the U.S. that finally forced Japan's surrender, and gurgle insulting clichés about war and moral equivalence between Japan, which started the war, and the U.S., which fought back and was gracious in victory.

The Google titans were not much better than the U.S. president. Google, whose new motto since its reorganization as Alphabet is "do the right thing,"replacing "don't be evil," has a twisted concept of doing the right thing. Their code of conduct bluntly states:

"Employees of Alphabet and its subsidiaries and controlled affiliates ("Alphabet") should do the right thing – follow the law, act honorably, and treat each other with respect."

Yesterday was Memorial Day. Google's idea of the right thing was ...

Well, here is the problem: there wasn't a Google doodle. Because they don't do them for Memorial Day. Eventually, after the internet noticed, the home page added a tiny symbol (right) under its Google Search and "I'm feeling lucky" search box, but not in the word itself.

Just a few days earlier, Google had given full-fledged honors in the Google word itself to honor the birthday of a Japanese-American woman interred during World War ll and who subsequently praised Mao and Osama bin laden among others.

Incidentally, below is how the decidedly less used Bing search engine honored the holiday.

I use Bing at the office and DuckDuckGo at home. Google doesn’t get a single packet of traffic from this household. I have firewall rules to make certain of it.

This is why I use Bing instead of Google. Bing never has anything political. Its always some natural scene or on a holiday, something appropriate. On the 4th of July, I am sure they will have an American flag. Screw Google.

I swear people are obsessed with wanting to get mad over the Google doodle. Every one of these holidays there’s the same article, it’s a search and replace. Look folks, they like to do obscure stuff for the doodle, always have, always will. Any day you’re getting off work as a holiday probably isn’t obscure. You already know they’re not going to do a doodle for it, checking so you can get mad about it is like getting mad because your neighbor’s house is still the same color it was when you moved in 10 years ago.

This was a nice image. It starts out in black and white; and, then turns to this color image that you have posted.

I always use Bing, I never use Google. Now, I don't kid myself that either of these companies is run by a conservative type person; but, Google seems to actually lean (sometimes very far) into the anti-American category.

No they aren’t.

So? Don’t use them if you don’t like them.

Not really.

I’m not telling anybody to use Google, I’m just pointing out seeking them every holiday for the sole purpose of getting mad about the the lack of doodle is retarded. 99% of the people who whine about this stuff only go to Google to make sure they didn’t doodle the day. You already know you don’t like them, you already don’t use them, why go to the site just to get your blood pressure up.

I see you’ve master the fact filled logic based retort.

Meanwhile, back in reality you’re wrong, and we both know it.

All of Silicon Valley is owned by leftists. Even Bing. Even DuckDuckGo. Even the cable or DSL Internet you’re using. What are you going to do about it?

Not a leftist (am left handed, so I guess technically you were right there), not my google, and people who seek things for the sole purpose of getting angry are still retarded.

Pointing out you’re being silly is NOT supporting Google. Both sides of an argument can be wrong. Really you have all the power to solve the problem yourself: don’t go to Google, especially not on holidays, then you’ll never see what their doodle is, and you’ll never get to be offended by it, and you can go about your life in Google-less peace and harmony.

A teenie tiny flag with a smaller yellow ribbon over it somewhere near the bottom under the huge Google icon.

MarvinStinson :" Google is a part of the current US government.
Google promotes leftism.

"Google is a part of the current US government", as evidenced by corporate using U.S. military Airbases, and government discounted fuel for their corporate aircraft.
The mere fact that they have visited so frequently at the White Hut during this administration regime, demonstrates their collusion and intent. I oppose both.
" Google promotes leftism," as evidenced by their holiday doodles. When I can't see the doodles without going to a Google website, I defer.
Google tracks you incessantly, and even though you don't go to Google directly , most pages you visit track you through google syndication.
" Google spits on the US" values, culture, heritage, history, and wishes to invoke its own values as 'the acceptable standard'. Its enough to make me puke !

Also , I do not participate with FAKE BOOK for the same reasons, despite that is how my adult children communicate with each other.
So I don't participate, and frequently am left out of communications with them, until they call me. But , it's my choice/free agency .
FAKE BOOK is run by a leftist, who hires other leftists to issue propaganda, and suppress any non-liberal thought or ideology (ie. pro Trump, pro 2nd amendment, etc.).
Most recently, it was learned that FAKE BOOK delivers cookies that have no expiration date - therefore constant tracking.
I choose not to support a leftist , elite , Dick-tator !

The only search engine I use now is Duckduckgo.com , which doesn't track you.
I dropped StartPage.com which uses Googlesearch as an supplemental accompanyment to their search engine, unknown whether Google cookies are planted.

I wasn’t aware that Google is using U.S. government discounted fuel for their corporate aircraft.

Thanks for that.
