Trump Has Solid Lead Over Clinton in Georgia (Trump 49%, Clinton 40%)

PPP's new Georgia poll finds that the prospect of Democrats flipping the state blue in the Presidential race may have diminished with the unification of Republican voters around Donald Trump in the last month. Trump leads Clinton 45/38, with Libertarian Gary Johnson at 6% and Green Party candidate Jill Stein at 2%. Georgia's a state where Trump is unpopular (44/49 favorability), but Clinton is another degree more unpopular (33/60 favorability).

Clinton and Trump draw pretty identical support within their own parties. Clinton's up 86/3 with Democrats, while Trump's up 84/3 with Republicans. That inherently would give Trump the advantage in Georgia, given the state's overall Republican lean. But beyond that Trump also leads 37/30 with independents, with Johnson at 13% and Stein at 1%. The racial divide in Georgia is massive with Clinton leading 80/2 among black voters, but Trump having a 67/17 advantage with white ones.

With third party candidates, Trump leads 45%-38% but I lean more towards the 2-way race numbers. This is great news for Trump, considering that Georgia is regarded as a state whose demographics are becoming less favorable for Republicans. And look at that favorability gap!

This is an increase of about 5-6 since the last poll (Note, not the last PPP poll, so it is comparing different polls. Still, the trend is our friend).

What? GA is a solid Red State.

Trump will win it by 10 or more points.

Hillary losing 20% of the black vote? I don’t believe they’ll be out in force this year.

Georgia was in doubt in some earlier polls. But now that Trump has won the nomination, he can start looking REALLY presidential like he did yesterday.

His poll numbers should show steady improvement from here on out.

I'm not interested in the reliably RED states, that have trended to the right for decades. I'm much more interested in the states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, California etc., that haven't gone red in decades.

Here in GreenAcres (the real Georgia beyond the borders of Atlanta, which I’d like to see fenced-in) the numbers will be a Trump landslide.

This is the second poll that I have seen today (Q poll being the other) showing Trump with poor numbers amongst Dems and not a vey robust lead amongst Indys. This is at odds with other recent polling. Wonder if bad polling or indicative of the current state of things.

Can anybody explain to me why Crooked Hillary is so popular with black
people? She likely looks down her nose at them and considers them inferior. On the other hand. Trump seems genuinely warm and personable around them.

It is a red state but not in the same strong category as say Texas or Alabama. The demographic trends in Georgia have been concerning to Republicans. Romney only won it by about 8 points while doing much better than that across most of the rest of the South.

Yes and no. The liberals are watching Arizona and Georgia as potential battleground states from Romney's 24 states that he carried in 2012 (in addition to North Carolina, of course). But I don't think Georgians will support Hillary - they rejected her husband 1996.

Like I've said to others, Georgia is red but not red enough to not be happy with these numbers.

Trump will sweep the South, with the possible exception of the liberal enclave of Virginia.

Illegals are taking over NC. Trump wins. The governor will also be reelected because of his strong stand against perverts in the bathrooms.

Is it possible that Governor Deal will return to “the democracy” to endorse Mrs. Bill?

While I'm disappointed in some things Governor Deal has done of late, I don't see him endorsing a Democrat under any condition - especially considering that his state is strongly in the Trump camp.
