What does the media owe Gary Johnson and the Libertarians?
The Washington Post ^ | 05/30/2016 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 06/01/2016 6:35:42 AM PDT by Cyberman

On Sunday, Gary Johnson, the former New Mexico governor, won the Libertarian Party nomination for president with former Massachusetts governor Bill Weld as his vice president.

Johnson is an impassioned proponent of the party's small government message, and he told the crowd he thinks most people are Libertarians but don't know it. At a news conference, he made a play for tea party voters, saying what started out as a fiscal, small-government movement was captured by Republicans, especially social conservative....

Johnson and Weld have more executive governing experience than the two major candidates. They currently draw 10 percent in many national polls. Both major parties will attempt to ignore them, but the media--reeling from Donald Trump's exploitation of their thirst for ratings in the primary season — should think carefully about how to cover Johnson-Weld....

In sum, this is an election like no other we have seen in generations. The major parties are splintered. A non-politician, nonconservative won the GOP's nomination. The least the media can do is not prejudge the result nor prevent two perfectly qualified, accomplished governors from making their case to the voters.

Johnson/Weld? They have about as much chance as I do of winning. The 10% now is illusion, fleeting. Johnson got less than 1% in 2012. He won’t beat this in 2016. No one knows these guys and if they did, no one would support them. Had they picked Ron Paul, maybe a bit more traction, but not with these two.

Oh, so NOW the media is covering the Libertarians. When in years past they were completely ignored, for obvious reasons.

The MSM hopes that more candidates help Hillary win.

In 1860, Abraham Lincoln won the election in a crowded field with 39% of the vote.

BRING IT ON!!!

They are desperate for someone to split the Repubs.

The thing is, how many Repubs are for gay marriage, abortion, and leaving the border open?

They will probably not get many votes at all, and not many cross-overs, but the cross-overs they get will be Bernie folks who vote for them rather than Clinton. They will do more damage to Clinton than Trump.

“non-conservative” won the Republican nominatation? According to Garp? This press babe? Bill Kristol or George Will...
I have three words for this tripe ...
and it is not “God Bless you”
Intresting arcticle yesterday by a professor at Claremont-McKenna University in Claremont Calif. Who said Trump’s politics is very similar to the GOP politics from Lincoln to Hoover...so who says “what is conservative” and what isn’t
Surely nobody in the press does...they would not know what a conservative was if i smacked ‘em in the face...

Gary gets the Perot-kissy-face long enough to rescue Hillary.

“Media” is a plural noun. It requires a plural verb.

The intention was never to actually take any significant part of the vote, but as a desperate firing of a final torpedo which will either go wide of its mark, or be deflected almost unnoticed if it does manage to strike the 24-inch, cold-rolled, case-hardened, nickel-plated, tungsten-vanadium-molybdenum-alloy armor plate steel undergirding of the SS Trump.

This is not The Donald’s first rodeo, but it sure is the biggest yet.

“The media should look at Libertarian voters. Who are they? Are they all, or mostly, white, young males?”

>>some people don’t count, according to the Washington Post.
