He might be smart in his field of expertise, which clearly is NOT elections, politics or economy.
I have a couple of “his” books and they are pretty good; he had a lot of help from others getting them ready for publication. Hawking is also now a global warming alarmist. His shocking appearance makes him look like his mental capacity is severely limited, but he still knows which side of the pop science toast his bread is buttered on. He has morphed into more weird looking Bill Nye the science guy at this point than respected physicist. His area of expertise is very narrow and his opinion on Trump is likely less informed than that of your garden variety leftist movie star.

Hawking should have long ago been recognized as being as disabled in the brain as he is in his body and packed off somewhere out of the public eye. I’m astounded that anyone takes him seriously. He can’t even offer free stuff like Obama, so literally all he has to offer is the high-sounding Tardese that falls out of his ugly mouth, yet somehow he’s billed as a genius.

I heard Hawking a couple years ago - he was talking that AGW is causing damage and “we must do something.”
