One-year-old Jacob's parents left him with the babysitter in March They claim they returned to find him screaming and the babysitter asleep The next day, they claim they found Jacob was covered in bruises and went to police They want criminal charges filed against the babysitter but authorities have decided not to pursue the case Jacob's father took to Facebook to vent about the lack of action The DA was unavailable for comment on the case

An Oregon couple claim their baby was left with horror injuries at the hands of their babysitter – including a bruise shaped like a hand print – but the authorities are not pursuing the case.

Joshua Marbury and Alicia Quinney claim they left their one-year-old son Jacob with the babysitter to go on a date night in March.

The couple, from Sherwood, say they returned home to find their son screaming and the babysitter fast asleep.

They say Jacob was covered in bruises the next morning and they reported the incident to police. However, two months later with no criminal charges being filed, they claim the authorities have let them down. snip

Washington County Deputy District Attorney Dustin Staten told Oregon Live he had not seen the pictures of Jacob posted on Facebook by his father, although pictures were taken in Jacob's case.

'Seeing those photos has caused me to want to take a different path,' Staten told the website on Saturday.

Oh my! That poor little baby! I hope they prosecute the person who did this!

If that was my kid, the person that did this would look much worse than the baby.

You’d think the circumstances under which the babysitter was hired would be relevant to the story. People are way too eager to leave their children at the mercy of strangers.

Wouldn’t even leave my cat in the care of someone I wasn’t 100% certain had no potential for cruelty.

So in Oregon if you beat a person into a coma in which they are unable to describe their pain and suffering, no charges will be filed?

I’d be sure to keep that in mind the next time I saw the babysitter.

Okay everyone.

What if the parents arranged to have a babysitter because they already knew the baby was going to have bruises the next day?

Oh, my word! What could a baby ever do to cause anyone to respond in a way that would cause those injuries?

Especially if they’re too young to talk. But have to have that “date night!”

Prison is too good for this creep. I have an 8 month old (first and miracle baby) and there wouldn’t be enough left to prosecute of a babysitter who did this to my little girl.

The parents then should have covered the babysitter in bruises and lacerations in retaliation.

If they found the baby screaming, why did it take until the next morning for them to find the baby’s bruises? Your child is screaming, so you pick him up to comfort him. Surely, a bruise on the face would be evident right then .... Don’t know if it’s the reporting or what, but something does not seem right with this story.

I think the police don’t believe them.

You should know that bruises do not show up right away. Plus, like most parents, they didn’t notice until the child was undressed (i.e. Morning diaper change & .dressing)

Besides, just because they didn’t see the extent of the baby’s injuries that night, doesn’t minimize what happened at the hands of the sitter..

The DA was going to let her get away with this if publicity didn’t catch up to him first.

Brusies take a day to develop. You might see some redness immediately, but that is variable.
