Bernie Sanders wants to make “Palestinian rights” more of a priority in the Democratic Party platform, according to a report.
The Washington Post reported on Friday that Sanders, the Vermont Independent Senator seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, wants to see changes to a platform to better reflect Palestinian aspirations for statehood.
Sanders, the only Jewish candidate to ever have won major party nominating contests, has throughout the campaign defended Israel’s right to security, but also has called for an end to “settlement expansion”, and has criticized what he has said has been Israel’s “disproportionate response” to Palestinian terrorism.
His grasp of the facts vis-à-vis the Arab-Israeli conflict were recently called into question after he falsely claimed Israel killed “10,000 innocents” during its 2014 war with Gazan terrorist groups. …

The more traditional or faithful Jews tend to vote R more often, of course. They feel trapped... Jewish history teaches that the Jews’ biggest problem is schism ....where fractions of the J people go off chasing false gods (golden Calf, Baal, Roman citizenship like St. Paul, Greek culture like in Maccabees, and many would cite a wider range of Jews going off the traditiona path, too. You can fill in the elipses....(... ..) .... ha!
When one traditional rabbi in, I think, NY lost his cool and called some of the “liberal Jews” apostates, several of his fellow orthodoxy rabbis calmed him down and made him stop doing that... in fear of furthering the (obvious) schism between Jewish faith and “liberal” JINOs. The hope is, obviously, to try to bring the wayards leftists back closer to Biblical faith and values... through patient nurturing and quiet outreach, rather than open confrontation. IMHO, this effort does not appear to be succeeding very greatly, but there it is.
