We lived in New Mexico for 18 years and saw many a roadrunner. They are carnivorous birds and will sit in the lower branches of a tree waiting for small mammals to present themselves.....
Built a pergola hoping it would fill in one side. It now covers the top and way beyond if I don’t trim back. 8x12 YUGE

I suspect the trimming is a yuge job/effort but I bet it’s lovely. I wish I had a pergola. I admire you for many reasons including your handywoman skills - wish I had some. I can do arts and crafts, but building things no so much - wouldn’t mind learning, just have never been taught - my dad and step dad were rather handy but just never thought to teach me.
Years ago I bought a little brass/glass/mirror cabinet that I had to put together - 120 pieces (lots of screws, etc.). I did it, proved to myself that I could put something together and swore I would never do that again (I think I was mainly nervous because of all the glass and 3 mirrors and I didn’t want to break anything).
There’s a local hardware store that has training classes on various items during the summer (a couple of hours each) I think I’ll go pick up one of their brochures and see what they have this year.
It is all just a larger craft projects with bigger tools
I have never been good with small details so it works for me !
