Liberals to outnumber conservative graduation speakers 4-to-1
Campus Reform ^ | May 5, 2016 | Staff

Once again, America’s colleges will showcase an excess of liberals and radical progressives during their commencement ceremonies to speak to the nation’s top grads one last time before they enter the real world.

Campus Reform took stock of this year’s line up (according to (US News’ top 100 schools) and assessed each speaker based on his political views, rating each one as either liberal, conservative, or apolitical. Any speaker who has, at one point or another, openly expressed support for a political party or platform was then placed in a corresponding category.

[snip] Notably, not a single active conservative politician was invited to speak at one of the nation’s top schools. However, seven active members of President Obama’s administration will deliver commencement addresses this year, including Obama himself, who will speak to three graduating classes.

That seems odd.

Of the 50 states, 30 have Republican governors and those governors appoint the Board of Regents for all the public university systems.

Those regents control the universities and thus can pick commencement speakers.

Well, Duh. These heads-full-of-mush and their ‘teachers’ don’t want to hear that hard work, self-sacrifice and accountability lie ahead! Yeesh!

Only 4 to 1?

I didn’t think we were doing that good.

If that is the case they are not doing a very good job unless the governors are all RINO’s

That was my first thought as well. I’d have guessed more like 30 to 1.

I am sure there are free republic members that are currently going to school. what I would love to see happen is at graduation when a liberal shows up to speak and makes a blatant attack on conservatism and the politicians who represent them is to do a walk out. have it agreed beforehand that if the speaker uses the commencement speech to attack the values of conservatism that if a chosen graduate gets up and walks out everyone else will do it. Broadcast to the university that a walk out is possible before hand and let the person speaking no it will happen because as messed up as the liberal campuses are they will freak out and resort to name calling in the media before this happens. we conservatives need to take back the university system.

The main problem with the society is, big money owns the media, so they can't be trusted to conduct effective three minute hates.

Everybody who can name their commencement speaker, raise your hand. Commencement speakers are the last volley of the left. After that...they’re ours. Go forth and create cognitive dissonance using nothing but simple arithmetic and a QuickBooks program.

The graduation speaker at Grand Valley State (Grand Rapids, MI) was nothing more than a racist trust-fund turd insulting our white graduates. What a crappy thing to do to on their graduation day.

Not only will none of my other children go there, I will never make a donation to support the school. What I saw and heard at my son's graduation ceremony was absolutely pitiful.

that ratio (or worse) has stayed steady for many years. Universities don’t like Republican speakers, they can’t handle truth.

I’m surprised the ratio is only 4-1. I just saw one of my sons graduate today from UMass and I would probably get stabbed and murdered if they knew who I was. Commencement address was about how “loud and obnoxious” people in politics should not win the day. I thought they were talking about Crooked Hillary but I’m sure that was not the intent.

I think the average age of FR is 62. So I doubt very many are attending universities

Ted Mitchell, Undersecretary of Education gave the commencement speech today at my son’s college graduation. He actually was pretty good.

Just think, 4 out of every 5 graduates get an extra hour of shuteye, before the cold hard reality of the world finally steps on their faces!
