San Francisco Catholic school teacher comes out as transgender — and finds acceptance
SF Chronicle ^ | May 12 2016 | Jill Tucker

Gabriel Bodenheimer could have lost his job when he recently came out as transgender to leaders of a San Francisco Catholic high school. Instead, in what some call a momentous step, the English teacher will remain at Mercy High, fully accepted as a man.

The announcement of support by an order of the Sisters of Mercy, which owns and operates the four-year college preparatory school for girls on 19th Avenue, offers a rare policy position on transgender rights from within an internationally respected Catholic order.

Is there a Catholic ping list for this sort of thing?

There fixed it.

Unfortunately you have to subscribe to read the article. I am curious if they had interviewed any outraged parents that intend to pull their child and support from the school.

For this school to have survived as a girls only parochial school it has to have had a great many conservative Catholic supporters.

Most single sex schools in the country have had to go coed in the last 50 years and those that survived need loyal supporters infusing cash on a year after year bases. I can’t imagine that they won’t lose a few over this.

Liberals seem to love promoting lifetstyles which don't produce children. As if they hate humanity and are trying to slowly snuff it out.

Our ancestors would think that society has gone mad and that it was all over.

Yes, the left hates humanity. They think the human population should be radically reduced to a small number so the remaining people can be easily controlled by a despot. Which is why their every thought or discussion quickly circles back to promoting some sexual perversion or to the thing they love above all else, abortion.

I went the Sisters of Mercy homepage ...
here
and saw that they are big into social justice and that they have a quote from Robert Frost. It's a good quote, to be sure, but it ain't the Bible nor an authoritative document nor the "Fathers," nor even their founder.

So I think we can hazard a guess on their docility to the Magisterium.

Pontiac, I don't know, but I don't think they need conservative Catholics to survive. All they need is rich Catholics, of which group Pelosi is a member. Or the order could have a fat bank account.

Don't get me wrong. As a Catholic, I am all about social justice, as it has been set forth in Scripture and in a series of long but for the most part good encyclicals. The tension of the paired concepts of solidarity and subsidiarity is immensely helpful to me, not only in my thinking but in looking at how I respond to the needs I see around me. As a wise teacher once said to me, "This is how we bring peace on earth: one person at a time."

Sad

I guess I should have guessed that a SF Catholic girls school would be of the Leftist variety.

I just didn’t think that Leftist parents would want their daughter to go to a all girls school.

I hope this school won’t end up being evidence against “bigoted” Catholic schools who hire only those who stand in agreement with their faith.

Such profound advice from the city of sickos. It seems little was learned from the homo infiltration of the priesthood, but, protecting children is not really what this is about.
