However, the notion of targetting an immigration ban on a religion, such as islam, has become politically radioactive.
Period.
A far more practical and effective way to reduce any new islamic threat coming to our shores would be to ban All immigration from high terrorism / crime risk countries including those that *subjugate women and gays.
Bingo - no more immigration from *islamic countries or high violence central American countries like Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, etc.

Maybe you don't know what this site really is about given your extended stay here. The owner of this site just made it quite clear. This is his site not yours. Speaking out of both sides of your orifices doesn't help your cause. Of course I would expect a rebellious spirit from an embittered Cruz supporter.

I don't think it's that radioactive for most rank-and-file Americans.
If I'm not mistaken, weren't their some shenanigans with the San Bernardino shooters when they entered the country originally, or most recently.
There ample reason to believe that ISIS, AL Qaeda, or some other Islamic extremist groups will try to use our immigration policy against us.
If there's any lawful way to combat that, then immigration bans of that nature are going to be perfectly acceptable to the American People.
The only other alternative would be to halt immigration for everyone. If National Defense is at stake, there's a lot of leeway to be expected.
So again, less radioactive than one may think.

I hope it was more than a suggestion. We need the ban, and not just on Muslims but all the criminals flooding this country. If a country is not allowed to ban certain groups, then it is no longer an independent country.
I believe he understands the problem, and I think he's about the only one who will actually deal with it. And, since he's a results-oriented sort of person, he'll not only try but succeed.
But first, he has to get himself elected... so he needs to appeal to as many voters as possible.

I’m not #NeverTrump. I will vote for him in November. He is light years better than the criminal Hillary. If he hasn’t been lying to us for the past 6 months and intends to actually do the things he campaigned on, I think he will have a positive affect on the country. We will see if that will be the case.

The ban is only until we figure things out. Trump has now figured things out, so we can keep the floodgates wide open.

Any other friends who see this, please weigh in. I haven't found anything definitive. Yes, I heard it when he first said it: it's TEMPORARY. But has he backed off ENTIRELY, not just the temporary part but any kind of ban until we can figure out how to vet them?
I like that plan. I believe we need to get our house in order before inviting the neighbors over.
We have been approaching immigration as what is best for select businesses and for those that wish to come here. It really needs to center on what is best for our country and we the people.
Some businesses have really profited from having a never ending supply of cheap labor, modern slaves is what I call it. I read an article the other day about a company that is being fined big money for hiring illegals even though others do it on a massive scale and are never bothered. There is something truly wrong with that, especially now that our borders are essentially open and our current leadership supports illegal immigration. I suspect illegal immigration is big money for our politicians that support it, it seems businesses that don’t pay up are targeted. That approach is pure corruption and should not be tolerated.
As to legal immigration, companies have been taking advantage of this too, claiming there are no citizens for jobs so they can get foreign workers. Tech companies are bad about this, but it is spreading out to other businesses- even to Disney for example.
I would support a ban on all illegal immigrants no matter where they are from, and make the penalties on the illegal and those that hire them so stiff that it will end. I would ban all legal immigrants that want to come here to work unless and until it can be proven that they are needed in this country.
The only immigration I would support during the ban is if people marry someone from another country that person should be able to immigrate, and if there are other really exceptional reasons on a case by case basis.
The purists should realize its just not going to happen on their terms.
One step at a time - if Trump builds that wall and throws the illegals out - you may just have a chance to save your country.
Without that you are utterly finished, everything else is mute.
