Big Government: For decades, the federal government has been on a mission to create a “smoke-free society” — whether that involved stiff regulations, a massive lawsuit, or relentlessly higher taxes. So what’s the government’s response when private industry comes up with a product that actually could produce a smoke-free society? The government decides to regulate it to death.

The government isn’t interested in solutions to help people quit smoking. They’re interested in keeping the donations rolling in from big tobacco.

My wife, mother-in-law, and brother all quit cigarettes thanks to e-cigs. My brother still uses his but with the 0 mg nicotine “flavor.” My wife and mother-in-law quit altogether and have been smoke free for over 2 years.

E-cigs work for people who desperately want or need to quit. The fact that they’re being misused by youth and have become the source of scorn for some in the public should be tangential to the fact that they are helping people quit tobacco. That’s the reason for this regulation. If health was truly a concern, big tobacco would be out of business or at least seriously limited to niche markets.

Biggest overreach by a federal agency and not a peep about it in the media.

A li-ion battery is now tobacco!

The Nanny Staters I get, at least they’re predictable. It’s the useful idiots who thought we could have a little bit of a Nanny State that gall me.

Got to keep that tobacco tax money rolling in.

And THAT, is the truth of the matter. This isn't about political correctness so much as it is about keeping the dirty cig money coming in. PC is just a cover excuse.

Then why the drive to sell pot?

And now the government is starting to legalize marijuana. Soon they’ll legalize a host of other drugs just to get the tax revenue. It’s never about public safety or health.

I vape. It is WAAAAY healthier than smoking.

Plus, it comes in fun flavors. Right now I am experiencing a blend of “Butter Rum Lifesaver” mixed with 25% “Granny’s Custard”.

There is no tar or particulate matter. It is not “smoke” that I exhale. You’d think the nanny gov’t would be pleased with my healthier choice.

More money.

The “mission” is propagandizing it to justify tax and regs. Many folks hate the act of smoking period, which is why they fight it. The gov sees it as an easy “line” to use for more money.

Plus, w/pot, there will be additional regs concerning use while driving, use around children, and use in public.

Once the public is “used” to that, you will see those same restrictions passed onto tobacco and vaping.

“Then why the drive to sell pot?”

What fed drive to sell pot?

It is still schedule I and not approved for medical use. Feds do not even allow banks to do business with medical pot providers.

If anything, the feds are driving more people to use legal big-pharma heroin by banning medical pot

Au contraire, mon ami. The real truth of the matter is to always extend government control further into people's lives. The tax revenue and PC are "just gravy" to the REAL purpose.

In the end, the FDA’s onerous regulatory regime reveals that this agency isn’t so much interested in improving public health as it is in dictating personal behavior.

This is the only thing its about.
