NC governor: Feds gave us 'unrealistic' bathroom law deadline [Prayers for NC, for America]

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) said the federal government gave the state an "unrealistic" deadline to respond to a letter informing him that the state's bathroom law violates the Civil Rights Act.

"They gave the ninth-largest state in the United States ... three working days to respond to a pretty complex letter and to a pretty big threat," McCrory said on "Fox News Sunday." "We don't think three working days is enough to respond to such a threat." McCrory said he asked for an extension on Friday.

The Justice Department sent a letter to the governor that says the law violates protections against workplace discrimination based on sex. It gave the governor until Monday to confirm "that the State will not comply with or implement HB2."

Many people in support of LGBT rights condemned the law in North Carolina, which requires transgender people to use public bathrooms corresponding to their biological sex.

McCrory said in an interview Sunday that the Justice Department agreed to give a one-week extension if the governor admits that the language in the bathroom law does discriminate.

"Well, I'm not going to publicly announce that something discriminates, which is agreeing with their letter, because we're really talking about a letter in which they're trying to define gender identity," he said.

Praying North Carolina continues resisting this Marxist/fascist tyranny, but it's coming to all states.

Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God!

Fight fire with fire, figure up how much the feds are giving you and withhold that amount in federal gasoline taxes back for the state.

“I have the feeling NC is not going to vote blue in the national elections this year..”

Good point. USA Today had an article identifying 5 states Trump had to win. NC was one of them. I think the others identified were OH FL PA AZ.

Almost unbelievably arrogant strong-arm tactics by the US Government on this issue. A governor asks for a brief extension to fashion a response to a lawsuit threat and they try to condition consent to that request on an admission of liability. This must stop. They are wildly out of control.

Imagine the chaos ......of communal bathrooms in jh-hs...?

My daughter was very nervous about public bathrooms....she “held it”...until she was about 11 yrs old....refused to use the school bathrooms.....

I cannot imagine...the trouble this is going to cause....and all the parents who object will be social worker-ed...home visited....ect.....there will be little gangs of males...little gangs of females....violence....damage......rape...INSANITY

This is the reason it is so important for ‘US’ to have an R Senate & House.

If ‘WE’ didn’t have the majority in both, the D pResident is liable to try and pass all kinds of stupid legislature.

Thank (I can’t say it) that we have McConnell & Ryan & Boehner before him to look out for ‘US’....

three working days to respond

What difference does it make?

Your response is going to be, "Nuts" - right?

I pray that is the answer. The federal tyrants are threatening to withhold billions of dollars in federal funding if NC doesn’t knuckle under to their unconstitutional demands. Praying they find a way to hold out for at least until after the coming landslide elections against the godless Marxists. Praying the Republican controlled House, Senate and Presidency will put an end to this crap!

It is a pretty sad state of affairs when a government gets in to bathroom politics.

The Governor should tell the federal bureaucrats to pund sand and stop the whining. Good Lord, are there any men left?

“The Federal government which has been moving from wrong to wrong in order to defend its immorality . . . must be moved to repentance we must venture therefore to suggest non-cooperation”

A paraphrase from Gandhi.

The CRA came about when Martin Luther King forced the Democrats to stop being ‘moderate’ about race.

This will stop when We The People stop being ‘moderate’ and insist Republicans stop being ‘moderate’ and turn back the wrongs that have been done by federal government power and above all wasteful spending over the decades.

And that will inevitably take acts of civil disobedience by “We The People”.
