Translation: Sarah, please don't come to AZ and campaign against me. And don't pick on that little butterball daughter of mine...if she loses her radio gig she's moving back in with Cindy and me. One alcoholic blonde is enough!

It was his own staff that was behind much of it, as I recall.

Yes, the entire media campaign against Sarah Palin was engineered by the “assistants” that McCain gave her and insisted that she should obey. They worked very hard to defeat her, apparently with McCain’s blessing.

Hell, McCain pretty much relegated her to the “barefoot in the kitchen” role by not following her aggressive leads.....

That RINO crap weasel enabled and empowered the backstabbing of Sarah Palin from his OWN campaign staff!!

Two faced lying fraud never could fly properly and follow orders, THAT is why that ass clown got shot out of the sky in ‘67.

Exactly. He’s running scared that Palin may think her obligation to him is at an end. It should be since McCain’s staff has never missed an opportunity to backstab her. And McCain has never lifted a finger to put a stop to it. Palin owes him nothing.

Sarah Palin was the only reason anyone had to vote for the McQueeg ticket.
The old bastard threw her under the buss of the media whores as fast as he could.

What I resent is that he was the Republican nominee in 2008.

Sarah Palin's convention speech was the highlight of that political season. She was electric. She was an instant star.

Funny, charming, cutting. Iron fist in a velvet glove.

Personal stuff aside, McCain was idiotic on a political level by not maximizing her benefit.

And nothing about your staff giving her the metaphorical "E Tu Brute" Senator?

Why didn't you stop them Senator and let her do her Job and speak out against Obama for starters?

Your staff throttled her voice and disrespected her as a Women to boot in one fell swoop.

McCain's motivation for saying this aside, I agree 100 per cent with him that the media's treatment of Palin has been disgraceful.

Trump is showing us how the media should be handled. Hopefully the corner has been turned.

Hahahah. My first reaction is "well, that's a timely defense (NOT)". Check the transcript, maybe he was asked something that made him say this. Nope, he volunteered the criticism of the press v. Palin. He was not in any way prompted into it, he'd already defended her in the interview.

RAJU: What was that like in 2008 for you, and how did you end up with Sarah Palin?

MCCAIN: Well, I still believe that, contrary to what has become the popular information and opinion, is that Sarah Palin energized our ticket.

I have polling data back from then that shows that she did that. She beat Joe Biden in a debate. She energized our base. We went from three points down to about four or five points up.

RAJU: She also made some big mistakes.

MCCAIN: Of course she made some mistakes. Do you think that -- yes. Yes. Obviously, I made mistakes. I will take full responsibility for my failure. I will not put that responsibility on Sarah Palin. She energized our campaign, and I'm very proud of her.

I don't often make a comment like this, but she was treated terribly by what we know of as the mainstream media. And that's the only thing I will ever resent about my presidential campaign, is her treatment by the media. It was disgraceful.

CNN State of the Union Transcript: May 8, 2016

I don't think she'd campaign against him, like she is against Ryan. But McCain knows that the press is going to try to get Palin to play a role in McCain's senate race.
