New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez is my choice as Trump's VP as there are a number of strategic reasons (in order of importance) to choose her. By choosing a woman, Trump would silence a lot of critics and likely attract more women voters. And her being Hispanic could be a huge asset that kills two birds with one stone. Additionally she WAS a Democrat until 1995 - so her subsequent defection to the GOP is an added bonus that can be played up greatly. And lastly, New Mexico voted Democrat in 2000, 2008, 2012, with Bush only winning by 6,000 votes in 2004.

She said she doesn’t want it. Trump says he wants someone with DC experience. I have a sneaking suspicion he might pick Rubio. He fits that qualification, we know he doesn’t mind changing his position to accommodate his boss, and it would go a long way to at least keeping the GOPe from undermining Trump. And the Little Marco stuff wasn’t nearly as bitter Lyin’ Ted. I don’t see a big downside for Trump to do it.

A. You’re playing the Democrats’ game. Running a female VP against a female presidential candidate makes little sense to those voters voting on gender.
B. Win New Mexico? So what?
C. The media will ignore the Mexican-American angle, or amp-up the inevitable attacks to take her down a notch — witness Sarah Palin.
That’s just off the top.
It’s Trump’s first choice that matters and I doubt it’ll be someone who will hurt the ticket even if it doesn’t help much. I think people will be surprised when who he’s talked to and who he hasn’t comes out.

Any Republican who is pushing for any form of affirmative action needs to be pushed out of the party.
we’d much prefer to hear, read arguments about how well qualified a candidate is....or how good a campaigner s.he is....or what his/her politics are
