Rush knows it was a joke. He doesn’t care. He’s using it to try and equate the story about Cruz’s father and Oswald and plant the idea in the listener’s mind that they’re both nonsense.
He’s trying to do the same thing by comparing leftist kids spouting profanity at Trump supporters to the kid who yelled out “you suck!” to Ted Cruz.
