There’s a big difference between all day-every day usage and abuse and when a professional person who works Monday-Friday blows of a little steam on a Friday or Saturday night.

“...60 days without being charged...”

And the reason they aren’t charged is because snitches die, too. The news media a few years ago reported that over 90 percent of New Orleans homicides were unsolved, due to witness intimidation.
Nobody didn’t see nuffin.

Thanks, and it’s not like I wouldn’t love to see things change for the better.

He introduced us to Althea Phillips, whose four sons were all killed in gun violence.

Nice job of parenting...

Alas, ghetto slums tend not to be populated by professionals employed in jobs with regular hours. Yet even for solid citizens types, irregular conduct and drug use are closely associated.

Just goes to show that nobody is perfect or “pure”...except for a child , and even they get ‘polluted’.

Well.... I was only thinking that ‘wards’ have ‘wardens’.

Of course, in Louisiana for example, they have parishes, so I guess it’s just a local variant of the precinct concept. We just have too many darn words that mean the same thing.

Louisiana parishes are like counties. The Houston wards are like precincts but they only are called that in the oldest part of town

I think the Wards are the original voting districts for Houston. I believe 4th ward was strictly African-American when there was segregation. The Jews were typically not allowed in River Oaks. Thats why you find so many jewish neighborhoods down around the Braes Bayou area.

I think you are correct. We lived for 16 years in Brazoria County. The black part of town was referred to by everyone, black and white as “the quarter”.

As in “the slave quarter”. We moved back to Houston in 1979, I wonder if it is still called that un PC name?
