China Denies U.S. Aircraft Carrier’s Hong Kong Port Visit

China has denied a request for a U.S. carrier strike group led by the USS John C. Stennis to visit to Hong Kong, the U.S. Defense Department said on Friday, amid heightened tensions over China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea.

The ship should make a port visit to nearby Taiwan. It will make China think twice about denying us again.

A GREAT idea!

I would expect that Taiwan will have a higher profile once the incoming Trump Administration starts making ‘adjustments’ to how we conduct foreign policy.

What may be sad is if family members had traveled to Hong Kong to meet with their loved ones; their (expensive) trips would now be wasted (unless they can redirect to wherever the carrier goes now).
