There is not a Representative more contemptible than Studds.

I'm positive he rode in my cab one night. From Dupont Circle (gay scene) to Rosslyn. He was real drunk.

Hastert IS or HAS BEEN a PEDOPHILE.

Common misconception. "Pedophiles" have sex with prepubescent children, A.K.A. little kids. It's pretty rare. Hastert was messing around with teenagers. Horrible, but not so rare. Especially back then. If you're over fifty, you probably heard rumors about such things in your high school.

The first day that Dennis Hastert worked in the private sector was after his career in Congress, as a lobbyist for Dickstein Shapiro.
When Hastert entered Congress his net worth was around $270,000, mainly from inherited property. When he retired from Congress he was worth somewhere between $4 million and $17 million.

All psychobabble aside, pedophile, epebophile (sp.? or whatever term those who see some distinction use to describe the twisted male molesters of adolescent boys) Hastert is a serial molester of underage male children over whom he had supervisory authority in a taxpayer funded gummint skewel. He then used his extraordinary influence as Speaker to enact federal legislation to build a federal highway through nothing farmland he owned wit others to "get rick quick" to pay off his victims. The school likely molested their minds and Hastert molested their bodies. He also abused his constituents.

What should be done to wayward priests of my religion who have homosexually abused minor males of any age or females for that matter, should also have been done to Hastert.

Molesting kids came into the picture because it was his lust for molesting of kids and his lust for continued political power that motivated his scheme of corrupt legislation to have the cash to make some but not all of the agreed payoffs.

That is to say, MOTIVE, which is always relevant to enhance or minimize the impact of a convection.

If you are broke and your wife comes down with a potentially fatal cancer and you had no insurance, you might me moved to embezzle money for her care, relief of her pain and possibly to save her life. Embezzlement is still a crime. Your motive does not exonerate you BUT that motive would be a LOT less damaging than Hastert's desire to keep his seat in Congress and Speakership and power by using that power for personal gain and to obtain the cash to shut up his victims and keep his constituents in the dark as to just WHAT they had been bamboozled into electing to Congress.

Yes, that is a crime in Illinois and two former teachers at our local public indoctrination high school (one male and one female) are doing substantial time for it. Even in the absence of force, teachers taking such advantage of underage students are deemed RAPISTS.

That colossal level of blackmail is certainly a state felony. If the mail or e-mail was used on two instances by a perp, it can also be federally prosecuted as a RICO felony extortion.

The victim is not a hero but a felon but, under the circumstances, it is quite unlikely that a jury will be empaneled with a prosecutor attempting to convict the blackmailer for victimizing slime like Hastert. I don't weep for Hastert either. The end of the republic? Hastert is only one of all too many problems killing this republic. Life is short (particularly at my age and condition) and I am not going to attempt to write even a partial litany of the rest.

The known villains in the dumping of Gingrich were, in addition to Haster, Robert Livingston of New Orleans (who was then promptly dumped when his adulteries were exposed)Susan Molinari of Staten Island (a pro-abort who paid the price of leaving Congress for betraying Gingrich whose father and predecessor Guy Molinari was a great Congressman and a pro-lifer), her husband William Paxon of Buffalo, New York (who also had to leave Congress). Regrettably John Boehner survived. Newt did not get them all. Shame on us.

Hastert also tried to keep the homosexual and wannabe House page molester pervert Mark Foley of FL in the House but failed.

At least two Jesuits who taught at the prep school I attended more than fifty years ago, one a priest, one studying for the priesthood at the time, were credibly accused by at least one student each of homosexual molesting them. Years after the fact, upon this discovery, the school sent letters to each and every one of the students of these two (whose addresses were known) soliciting information as to the molestings. The priest was dead by then. The seminarian probably was as well. There may have been other letters to students of other teachers. I don’t know. Any single such event was inexcusable by academic authorities if known in time.

they are using this law to seek punishment for other things they cannot prosecute, which to me comes across as a perversion of the system

This is true, and it wouldn't be done to a popular Democrat.

Hastert may have never been caught if he hadn’t agreed to pay so much hush money. Half that amount would have done and avoided the monitors.

You seem to be jumping to strange conclusions. Hastert can be a perverted child molester (which he’s essentially admitted to), while the Clintons can still also be criminals. They are not mutually exclusive. Criminals are still criminals, regardless of whether they have a “D” or, yes, even an “R” after their names. Try to find some balance.

Hastert’s irregular banking transactions came to the attention of the feds due to violations of reporting requirements. When asked about the transactions, Hastert told the feds that he was being “extorted” by someone claiming FALSE accusations of sexual abuse.
The FBI was called in and they recorded phone conversations between Hastert and the person who was receiving the payments. From those recorded conversations it became obvious to the FBI that Hastert, not the person who had been molested had INITIATED the idea of paying damages in exchange for silence. That’s hush money, not extortion or blackmail.
The idea of payoffs was Hastert’s not the other person’s. Hastert was also charged with lying to FBI agents.
There is a huge legal difference between “I’ll pay you to keep quiet about crimes that I committed” and “pay me or I will expose your crimes.” Hastert always had the option of simply saying, go ahead and file the report.

In a recorded call, the person Hastert was paying “said he understood his agreement with Hastert was a ‘private, personal matter’ and nobody else’s business. He offered to slow the payments down and asked about keeping their stories straight. He also reminded Hastert that he had wanted to bring in ‘two close confidants’ of Hastert’s to help them reach an agreement and that he also wanted to involve lawyers in the deal to make it ‘legal.’ Hastert had refused.”

Apparently, he is still married to Susan but she had been divorced from a previous husband named Lucchesi when she married Paxon.

Paxon was chair of the Republican Leadership Conference when he conspired with John Boehner and other sniveling buttoned down weasels to replace Gingrich as Speaker with Dick Armey (who did not consent to the scheme) and move Tom Delay up to Majority Leader (I suspect but do not know that Delay did not consent either). Dick Armey tipped off Gingrich as to this scheme.

Apparently Paxon and the others changed the scheme to replace Armey as the putative Speaker with GOP-E Robert Livingston of New Orleans (a descendant of THE Revolutionary War era New York Livingstons) but a funny thing happened. Livingston was demonstrated to have a wandering eye and other body part himself. He resigned from Congress promptly in disgrace. If only we had known of Hastert's perverted "preferences," we might have been spared that embarrassment. If only we had a better grasp of Boehner's manifest shortcomings and Ryano's then.....

An excuse for dumping Gingrich was that he had championed the impeachment of Billy Jeff, inter alia, for his track record of lying under oath and otherwise about his Hall of Fame status as the Babe Ruth/Ty Cobb of adulterers.

Those more inclined to be toadies for the Wall Street, K Street, US Chamber of Crony Commerce types and to take the care and feeding of Muffy's Trust Fund as more important by far than anything and everything else and were appalled by Gingrich's attention to anything else and general populism, organized the palace coup against Gingrich on the public excuse that he too was an adulterer and, well, tut, tut!

In this way the whores and big business slaves could restore the disgusting heritage of big business interest toadyism (and support of unconstitutional central government empowerment) dating from the discredited Federalists, through the discredited Whigs, through Abraham Lincoln (one-time servant of Henry Clay and the Whigs and the railroad interests, among others), and "mugwump" and "moderate" and "Modern" "Republicans" thereafter until Reagan was elected in spite of and in defiance of their confident lie that he would be wiped out a la Goldwater (the central myth of "moderate""Republicans").

Reagan was no longer eligible or available to thwart their plans to the extent that he sometimes did or show them up (gently but effectively) as the political ignorami that they have always been. Gingrich who had once been a Rockefeller "Republican" but had been convinced by ideas and Reagan's success irresistibly commanded a populist takeover of the House GOP caucus, dumping spineless Robert Michel, taking control of the House itself for the first time in forty years. The phonies: Livingston, Hastert, Susan Molinari, Bill Paxon, John Boehner (Paxon's fellow ring leader of the coup), and others posed for holy pictures to deliver us from the "embarrassment" of a populist Gingrich (and actually to deliver for the ever-entitled corrupt business interests) were mostly out of Congress in very short order (I suspect that most of their demises were orchestrated by Gingrich in exile as payback. He missed on Hastert, Boehner and some others.

What happened to Paxon? The whore Paxon who, additionally had been elected as immediate successor to Jack Kemp in Congress (probably the single outstanding Member of Congress in his time) shamed his Buffalo area district by his actions against Gingrich. When Paxon had to pay the price of his Congressional seat for his perfidy, he moved to the DC suburbs of Virginia with his wife Susan Molinari and their two children and became a partner in a DC mega (corporate) law firm and a major K Street "lobbyist" for all the usual suspects. They DO take care of their own.

Of course, it was Hastert's claim, true or false, that he was being extorted. If he was NOT being extorted then he would also have been guilty (once his payoffs were accepted) of having patronizing an under aged prostitute or nine and anyone receiving the hush money was guilty of prostitution, perhaps a misdemeanor and in any event a charge unable to be brought because of statutes of limitations.

Hastert the Pervert, a lifelong state and federal politician, LIED????? Say it isn't so!

Hastert the Pervert COULD have told the molestees to file a report but, ummm, did not. He could have kept his ill gotten fortune in his bank account and not made payoffs but he DID make payoffs. The now fully adult molestees who are alive COULD have refused the payoffs but they DID NOT. They COULD have reported Hastert the Pervert back in the day but they DID NOT. Most importantly, Hastert the Pervert COULD have told the truth to the FBI but he DID NOT.

Now he gets to serve a mere 15 months less 15% good time probably in a federal country club like the former Eglin Air Force Base (aka Club Fed) in sunny Florida complete with golf courses, paper shuffling jobs and most of the luxuries he has enjoyed on the outside other than the anuses of young male teenagers.

The molestees are small fry. If they are never charged, my life will not be diminished.

POOOOOOOR Pervert!!!! If he had to do fifteen years at hard labor instead of fifteen months as a cushy sabbatical, it would be closer to actual justice.
