I should not have phrased my reply in a way that could be interpreted as an ad hominem.
I should have said your viewpoint is naive or your opinion is naive.
Sanders was invited to enhance is political standing and make him seem more influential. The media are complicit in portraying Sanders as respected and reasonable in his views.
