As I see it: Mussolini vs Lucrezia Borgia? There is an alternative
Jerusalem Post ^ | April 15, 2016 | Melanie Phillips

Traveling in the US last week I found Jews, like many others, in a state of extreme agitation.

The Trump phenomenon, they raged, was beyond belief. How could America be doing this to itself, possibly nominating as a presidential candidate a man who was a crude and unstable know-nothing, a bigoted authoritarian and potential despot, a threat to America’s future and the entire world? They might have no option, said Republican Jews in despair, but to vote for Hillary.

No! cried others who were equally despairing.

How could you even think of voting for Hillary, what with the email scandal, with her past support for the PLO and the bullying way she treated Israel while she was secretary of state, with the Muslim Brotherhood types and other Israel-bashers in her close circle?

Can’t be bothered opening the article. Hope it is pro Trump.

Jews did nothing wrong in Germany.

Illegal Mexicans have raped, killed, stolen, DWId, DUId, formed HUGE gangs and help the cartels, take a fortune from our education and healthcare systems, etc.

OF COURSE a portion of the muslims obummer is bringing in are going to be terrorists. and Americans will definitely die in the future because of the ones he has already let in.

So Jews will vote 80/20 for the dem this time instead of 70/30? no biggie.

NYC Jews saw they were being brutalized by Obama’s sons and Dinkins didn’t care. They voted for Rudy. Great move.

I wish they could see this at the national level.

But then, Obama has treated Israel so well, they can expect the same from Hillary. /s

It’s an endorsement of Sen. Cruz as an alternative. A pro-Israeli Jew voting for the Butcheress of Benghazi or Comrade Burnie is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

Thanks for letting me know. :)

Yes. Cruz is FAR BETTER than Hillary or Bernie for Israel.

Whether one is voting for Trump or not, this cannot be denied.

NYC Jews have been voting republican for a while now. Maybe a dense city where attacks on Jews make headlines makes it more obvious how dangerous dems are.

We have a choice between Mussolini, Lucretia Borgia, the world's oldest living hippie, and a Canadian Elmer Gantry.

I don’t think many NYC Jews voted for the Republican running against the Communist pig Wilhelm in 2013 for Mayor. Hopefully enough will see fit to dump his ass next year. A Dinkins-Lindsay clone rolled into one is enough for a city to last a millennia.

Ted Cruz’s Canadian accent is so pronounced. I guess that comes from having been raised in Texas since he was a toddler. Sorta like Dubya’s thick Connecticut accent from having also been raised in Texas since he was a toddler. Funny that all is.

he won by 50 points?!?! I had forgotten and I live here.

53 to 44 percent among Jews. HUGE difference for the better.

Which is a GREAT sign for republicans in the next mayoral race after deblasio destroys the city.

The next repub will get 65 or more percent of Jews.

especially after some recent Crown heights attacks.

I didn't recall the precise margin, but I remember he destroyed Joe Lhota in the general election.

I actually worked for McDonald during the primary season, not that he would have fared much better.

Melanie Phillips is a genuine intellectual and an accomplished historian.

She has steadfastly and brilliantly supported Israel in places of hostility such as England and in doing so she has fought a fight not just for Israel but for liberty and she has uncompromisingly resisted Islamic tyranny at great risk to their academic standing and physical safety.

Often embattled as she fights on behalf of Israel, she also fights our corner. Her perceptions about the three candidates are spot on because her perceptions about the state of our nation and culture are so undeniably true.

By way of full disclosure, I have often stated my opinion that America is overextended on behalf of Israel for incommensurate gain as we are in many places around the world but even if there were no Israel, Melanie Phillips' observations concerning Ted Cruz would still obtain in full force.

Cruz is as Melanie states. His weaknesses on trade and immigration, corporatism and NAU are RINO like. Trump does say he will defend Christians. He does see the Islam issue. He loves America and the hurting middle class. He sees the trade issues as destroying the country, where Cruz supports more of them.

Just do not think Cruz as he is above is really a conservative.

Cruz is not weak but strong on both trade and immigration.

His stand on immigration is actually stricter than Donald's because Cruz will deport all the aliens and keep them out but Trump will readmit them according to some unarticulated standard as these illegals tickle his fancy. Trade has been a conservative position for decades. In any event, Cruz is opposed to TPP and will vote against it. It is Trump who presents the real danger to our economy through trade with his ham-handed approach which could start a trade war and cast the country into a depression.

Trump loves America? Trump loves Trump, to believe otherwise is to play the fool for Trump.

To accept that Trump who has been a Democrat, an Independent, and an eleventh hour pre-election Republican convert, who has been wrong because he has been on every side of every issue, who has financed Democrats and rinos who have fought against your position on immigration and trade is, again, to play the fool for Donald Trump. To deny that Ted Cruz is a conservative and has been a consistent conservative all his adult life even extending into his adolescence is preposterous.

One can redefine conservatism and wrap it around Donald Trump but it just ain't so and it won't fit.

Speaking as Jew, I find Evangalicals’ well-intentioned attempts to save my soul annoying. Given the choice, I’ll take annoying over tyranny. Too many of my fellow Jews choose the opposite.

“I see it: Mussolini....?” They realize the “Trump is Hitler...” crap doesn’t work so now they’ve switched to Mussolini?” This is a foreign entry to the Wile E. Coyotes Trump Frustration award.

Sorry. Cruz has supported both TAP and , in general,TPP. He lawyer danced big time on votes and support finally voting for cloture on TAP so it could pass even though he voted against it. That same cloture vote assures passage of TPP with a simple majority without Cruz’s support or vote.

Cruz will deport illegals, but up the numbers of legal visas to more than replace the deportees.

Sorry. Cruz just is not going to move away from a North American Union. He is a globalist and corporatist in dancing shoes.

All the way back to 93 Russell Kirk said this globalism corporatism is not conservatism.

How could it be? It is destructive.

Sorry.

You obviously don't mean that at all, you're not at all sorry. Why should I believe any of the rest of your reply?

Just do not think Cruz as he is above is really a conservative.

Cruz is not a conservative

Ted Cruz is not a constitutional-conservative. Were Cruz really a constitutional-conservativehe would not be running for president. There is no way in he[[ that the son of a Cuban born in Canada is a natural born citizen of the United States under original intent.

There is no way a constitutional-conservative would have voted for the Corker amendment.

There is no way a constitutional-conservative would have voted to reauthorize the Patriot Act.

There is no way a constitutional-conservative would have voted for the TPP enabling TPA.

Ted Cruz is also a liar, conservatives used to not like lairs.

Bull, Cruz wrote an op-ed in the WSJ urged congress to pass the job killing TPA/TPP. Stop with the lies.
