They always cadge it as “denying a service” with complete disregard to the truth - being an election year and all, I wonder how Cruz would cadge his comments on it... would he be the “Conservative Champion” or would he be the “Compassionate Conservative” who spoke so....compassionately about how women that kill their kids through abortion are “only human”....

He’s not even pretending anymore to be a moderate. Kasich has gone full libtard recently.

“My point of view is that the gov’t doesn’t own that business, it is private and should be able to enjoy the freedom offered to everyone.”

Agreed. But if the government doesn’t own the business, how is it that the government can dictate how much the business pays to its employees?

Tolerance and acceptance are two different things.
Tolerance means I don’t punch you in the face for having different beliefs, acceptance means I approve of those beliefs.
There was a time when we would hang despots who tried to FORCE their beliefs on us.

What kind of a country do we live in? Hmmm, let’s see. According to Obama we are a nation of values. Values such as marriage between same sexes; sodomy; right to murder unborn babies if we decide we don’t want the responsibility; forcing people to accept immorality; you know, stuff like that.

I go with the science.
You are born xx, or xy.
I will interact with you based on your born status.
I will not enable or prolong a mental deficiency.

You cannot write laws to counter common sense

Somewhere along the line, our betters decided that business is never private.

That would have been in 1964 with the passage of the Civil Rights Act. This was the issue that drove Goldwater to oppose the bill. Goldwater was not a racist. He was from Arizona, prior to the open borders era when the Hispanic population of the U.S. was still three percent. When you said "minority," Goldwater thought you were talking about the Navajo. He was all in favor of eliminating de jure segregation and would have supported the Civil Rights Act had that been all it did.

The bridge too far, for Goldwater, was the the Civil Rights Act applied also to "places of public accommodation." This was aimed at Jim Crow segregation in restaurants, retail stores, public bathrooms, and the like. But it opened Pandora's box with regard to government intrusion into the operation of an ever-expanding array of activities formerly deemed to be private entities. Goldwater was far ahead of his time in anticipating the slippery slope when ownership rights and freedom of association lose their legal standing.

Jim Crow segregation in commercial enterprises would have withered on the vine very rapidly with the repeal of de jure segregation and the suppression of state laws and local ordinances implementing racial exclusion. The natural and overwhelming impulse of businesses is to serve any customer who walks in the door with money to spend. (Most leftists still do not understand that Plessy v. Ferguson was an arranged lawsuit brought by the railroads in an effort to overturn commercially stupid racial codes that were complicating interstate rail travel, where the rules could change every time you crossed a border.) But liberals would not let markets do their thing and, in seeking a shortcut, they essentially repealed the right to be left alone.
